i thought bombs have an expiry date, i dont think a 50 years old bomb can go kaboom. Unless its still produced which is LOL
Explosives usually become less stable with age and more likely to explode - possibly before you want it to. Russia wouldn't be the first to have problems with old bombs:

They played a part in that disaster for the US Navy.

Normal bombs depending on materials and storage can last a long time, but you generally don't want to be using the really old ones because they can become unstable, IIRC one of the worst incidents on a US carrier was caused by an older bomb that got left in the sun too long.

Nuclear weapons IIRC need servicing due to both the radioactive materials being used losing efficiency over time, and IIRC the affects of it on some of the other materials, I think there is something that is used to help enhance the reaction but it has a definite shelf life so needs to be replaced if you want the weapon to go up as it should.
Then there are the issues with things like the fuels used, some missiles get fuelled up just before launch, others are left with the fuel in them but at the expense of you needing to service it a lot more often (many rocket fuels do very nasty things to the fuel tanks), or use solid fuels that degrade over time.

It is however worth noting that for normal munitions it's not that unusual to still be using "old" designs for the basic munition as a lot of what makes a "smart bomb" is stuff that can be easily added to it (different fuses, strap on guidance fins etc).

Munitions like bombs and missiles do have a "Shelf life", that dosnt mean they straight up wont work after this date. However, reliability will decrease in both the chemical propellants/explosives and also possible degradation in electrical components and such.
Munitions past their shelf life can be returned to manufacturer for a refurb/modernization or just plain and simple dismantle and replace with modern equivalent.

I very much doubt this will happen in Russia though, probably stored in sub-optimal conditions then pulled out when needed. Some Russian munitions have been modernised, especially the likes of the Guided bomb varients etc. I'd hazard a guess this number is a small percentage of the total held in stock though.

not really. Most explosives remain chemical active There can be some oxidation and depending on the exact explosive and storage condition, some leakages and crystalization. This tends to make the explosive more sensitive, e.g TNT can become very dangerous. Bombs from Ww1 are more.or.less as dangerous now as back then. What ages is everything else such as fuses and trigger mechanisms. Modern smart bombs age poorly because they rely on batteries and electronics.

its about forgiveness but more importantly about being educated, and informed. A well educated and well informed individual is not a tool on the hands of a psychopathic leadership.

Putin is going to his villa/bunker because he plans to drop a nuke. We should be very worried because if he does things are going to get very scary very quickly..
He's going there with paranoia as more and more protest the war and he wants only small trusted people around him. I'm waiting for a random heart attack.
