Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

New Scottish Power prices for me. Only looking like £24/month increase for me based on their annual estimate.

Adjust it yourself... You have to login to the website though, I can't seem to see how to do it on the app.

Choose payments and then adjust payment amount/date.

It will tell you what they recommend and you can adjust to 10% max lower than this.

It's the actual tariff I mean - from the 1st I was supposed to be on a fix that is more than the new cap - I had assumed that they would adjust the tariff on the fixed to match the cap - but it seems I will have to ring up and request to be moved to the SVR..

Ah ok... I'm on a fix that's more than the new freeze as well but the 17p/4p discount they mention will bring me in line with the freeze (actually lower but they won't go lower I'd suspect).

I'll just wait for October's bill on 1st Nov to make sure they have altered it properly (I give monthly readings to get a monthly bill)

I see Eon have this statement now up for fixed tariff customers. Still a tad confusing. I think it reads that those of us who signed up for V19 etc will not only receive the deduction set by the government but we'll be set at the sane cap as those on SVR tariff. If I've read the latter part of the statement correctly.

'For the small number of customers who fixed at a high rate exceeding the October Ofgem price cap of £3,549 (£3,674 paying on receipt of bill), they will receive the full discount of 16.998p for electricity and 4.2p for gas. To make sure that those customers also benefit from the EPG we will bring their fixed price down to be in line with the government's £2,500 average threshold.'
I find it baffling that they still can’t tell me what my fix will change to on 1st October.

Would you like a phone call from the ceo?

Paying people the money directly would be a car crash.

I’m sorry you’ve been confused. Perhaps rely on social media posts from your energy supplier rather than the news.

For what its worth I think the way Octopus did it is better, the issue is the communication I think all it needed was something like this "We have reduced your direct debit temporarily due to the £400 government rebate".

Labour ... no discussion on storage of all this wind power they'll generate , some attempt to make ev's more viable for private buyer

Under the ‘People’s Power Plan’, Labour will deploy clean power at the scale and pace needed to deal with the climate emergency. This means delivering 52GW of offshore wind by 2030, equivalent to 38 coal power stations. Labour’s new wind farms will be enough to provide electricity for 57 million households. (when the wind blows)
A ‘People’s Power Fund’ will be created from 20 per cent of all profits from the publicly owned stake, investing between £600 – £1,020 million each year into ‘bricks and mortar’ infrastructure in held-back coastal communities such as harbour fronts, leisure centres, libraries and parks.

....
These plans form part of Labour’s ‘Electric Car Revolution’ including:

  • Investing £3.6 billion into a mammoth roll out of electric vehicle charging networks.
  • 2.5 million interest free loans for the purchase of electric vehicles saving buyers up to £5,000.
  • A scrappage scheme for fossil fuel cars over ten years old saving buyers £2,000.
  • Calling on business car fleets to go 100 per cent electric by 2025, including by removing the £320 Vehicle Excise Duty surcharge on electric vehicles purchased for fleet use about £40,000, and installing EV charging stations in all workplaces that transition their entire fleet to EVs by 2025, and maintaining the existing schedule for company car tax for pure electric vehicles at 2 per cent beyond 2022/23.

hrrrrm.

So.

Work is launching an electrical car scheme through Octopus.

I am not with Octopus.

The enormous question will be - will I be able to switch to Octopus and go straight onto SVR (or guaranteed price or whatever) as part of this package?

(I have no exit charge on my current fix with BG)

/edit

this is probably a daft question, considering I believe the package is with octopus go.

What kind of rates will I get, anyone know?

You can look up your regional GO pricing on the Octopus website :)

My company has just done the same, you don’t need to switch to Octopus to get an EV though them.

However the economics are hard to deny (especially if you have Solar PV and battery storage)

My go rate 39.25 peek and 7.5 off peek for 4hr starting at 9:30.

Edit: if you do switch don’t forget To get a referral code, this can be applied after joint as well.

EDF have just emailed me the new prices tonight, inviting me to adjust my direct debit before my next energy review (what they really mean is, before they produce my bi-yearly bill).

The prices are as shown in the PDF document, linked to earlier in this thread. I found their estimate of my yearly usage good enough, considering that I've been with them for about 10 months.

I now have confidence about what my prices are going to be and can budget accordingly, by adjusting my direct debit.

I'm happy to switch. British gas are flipping hopeless!

What's the referral code thing?

I'm hoping that soon enough we'll be able to use the car battery as an energy source for the house.

You need a smart meter for go but Octopus installed one within a week of me joining.

You split £100 with whoever refers you, but I won’t provide a link due to thread rules.

V2G or V2H although on paper sounds good is very limited currently.

Thanks - I have smart meters already.

Considering this is a longer term investment, I will choose to remain optimistic about V2H :)

Interesting, so public ownership of wind farms if I read that right, I can accept that, the EV plan is ok providing the shift doesnt make Electric even more expensive. The increase in demand for EV needs to be countered with supply.

Doesn't seem unreasonable that Labour energy policies should stand up to scrutiny, even if they are not in power
(TBD Revenue shortfall from home charging - need for mileage based tax, and ev BIK rate update, which apart from individual benefit, is unfairly supporting 2nd hand value)

More or Less R4 program on last night
- Norway has made 90Bn from gas profit (so far) versus 25Bn normal times in previous years which represent 16K per person into their sovereign wealth fund (for pensions etc)

I had my revised energy bill from eon next SVR and its gone from £212.00 pcm £254.87 (£321.87 before the gov discount applied). I'm £950 in credit!

I've check it today and it now has two dd's one for the £254.87 commencing from the 6/10/22 and also one for £145.00 commencing 01/10/22

Has anyone on eon next flex tarrif had the same 2 DD payment figures on their account?
