Indirectly related to that - one thing which was puzzling me for a long time was the activity of some of the NATO intel aircraft, which weren't just focussing on Russian positions - belatedly realised they are also frequently mapping/monitoring the lines where the West could be making a stand and/or staging from if this conflict escalated.
I guess it’s not outside the realms of possibility that Russia may try to mobilise the entire army and invade across all borders with Europe. That and possible espionage and partisan activities travelling across the border.

Russian state media has announced the preliminary results of the so-called referendums being held in occupied parts of Ukraine. With about a fifth of votes counted, it is reported that an overwhelming majority have voted in favour of joining Russia:
  • 97% in Kherson region
  • 98% in Zaporizhzhia
  • 98% in “Donetsk People’s Republic”
  • 98% in “Luhansk People’s Republic”
Ukraine and Western nations have called the process a sham, claiming the results had already been decided.

Nope, it is the other way around.
Russians in ukraine were attacked from nazis-nato forces and then try to gain independence from Ukraine.
Ok even if I followed that nonsense you're implying anybody could move into another country then claim 'independence'.

Right lads, let's all move to Moscow and claim 'independence' from Russia.

Any competent military planner would have to consider and have contingency for the possibility Russia was trying to draw NATO forces out for whatever reason.

Although it hasn't typically been the way Russians operate when it comes to stuff like this - you'd much more likely see massed tanks pouring into Europe before they attempted some kind of baiting strategy of that nature, despite the use of subterfuge in other areas.

Military enlistment centre to open on Russian border with Georgia

A military enlistment point will be opened on the border between Russia and Georgia at the Upper Lars checkpoint, Russian officials have said, after thousands of people were seen fleeing there.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last week what he described as a partial mobilisation of reservists to join the war, with some 300,000 said to be called up.
Since then, thousands of Russian citizens have been seen fleeing to neighbouring countries, including Georgia and Kazakhstan.
"A mobilisation point of the military registration and enlistment office will be deployed at the checkpoint in the near future," the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia said.
Up until now, vehicles could only cross the border. But the decision was made to allow citizens to cross on foot "to reduce the risks of illegal behaviour and the emergence of conflict situations," officials said.
Deputy Prime Minister of North Ossetia false
Irbek Tomaev said yesterday that about 3,500 cars and 1,300 trucks were in the queue to leave Russia for Georgia.

It's a good thing they only made it 97% in Kherson. Wouldn't want the result to look suspect.

The leaking gas in the sea, other than it being a waste and a environmental disaster, what is the significance of this? The Russians have turned it off I thought.

There's still gas in the pipe (as evidenced by the bubbles) even if you turn it off, for the environment it's probably only bad if any birds fly nearby as they'll die from breathing the gas, apart from that I don't think it's that bad, not oil slick levels of bad at least as the gas will largely just merge into the atmosphere, might add a few 0.00001 degrees to climate change though
