Choosing an electric blanket. Any recommendations?

Got this one for £80 as a spair as the current dreamland one is 5 years old now so I'm expecting it to breakdown in tu he near future.

Dreamland Intelliheat fast heat up super soft faux fur mattress protector king, electric blanket 200 x 150 cm, easy fit elasticated skirt, 2 controls, 6 temperature settings & timer, extra foot warmth https://amzn.eu/d/6ayE6nU

Been using one for almost 20 years now. Love em. Feels like a massage at times.
Another vote for the Dreamland kingsize underblanket with dual intelliheat controls.. (the same you linked to!)

I am not officially allowed to talk about electric blankets, the Mrs is embaressed about it and thinks it's for OAPs only.. however, since we only take the chill off the room before going to bed, I bought one and put it on the bed, just 15min preheat, turn off when you go to bed and it's super toasty and the Mrs has sworn me to secrecy to never reveal she actually thinks it was worth the money..

I used to sell electric blankets many years ago when I first started working. They were mostly bought by old lonely women... I never understood why people would use them as they make the bed uncomfortable to lay on. I'd have thought an over blanket would be better but what do I know? I'm just a man who uses a quilt.

It's getting poor reviews for not staying in place.
Might give it a go though. I don't expect perfection at that price.
How comfortable/uncomfortable are the controller connectors where the electrical cable enters the blanket?

Mine stays in pace just fine given its supported all the way round vs just straps on each corner. A good fitting bed sheet helps too.

The connectors are close to the edge so unless you hang off the edge regularly they won't be a problem.

A hairdryer takes the edge off a cold bed then you all good without lying on a blanket and you probably already have one so don’t need to buy swim thing extra

No issues staying in place, it’s rock solid, no idea what people are doing if it isn’t, as Kona mentions it’s got corner straps..

Maybe if your mattress is thin/flimsy the straps might not be enough? Our mattresses we’ve had it in are all pocket sprung and quite structured.

As for connectors, as mentioned right at the edge, not really noticed them either.

Thank you Kona786 and Demon, I've now ordered one from the rainforest.
Your opinions are much appreciated.

You can say Amazon because OcUK don't sell electric blankets.

In fact, not only can you say Amazon, you can link to the electric blanket you bought if you want.

Last time I used one of these must have been in the late 70's at my nans house.
I do hope this one will be a little more comfy.

I used to have an electric blanket as a kid, well i took it in turns with my brothers on a rota basis.
Now i'm old i find a dutch oven warms you up nicely:eek:

How are you finding yours? I like the warmth of our one, but i can feel the wires a bit under the bed sheet, wondered if there are better ones to avoid that

It’s superb.
I pop it on for 15 minutes before I jump into bed and drift off almost immediately.
I did feel the wires initially, but don’t notice them at all now.
The only downside I’ve found is that if I switch it on when I wake up, it’s almost impossible to get out of bed due to being super cozy.
