Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Bulb want me to go from £290 a month to £463 a month.

That £463 a month "includes" the £66 a month discount..... Jesus wept...

I'm £460 in credit at the moment.

Mental that they think my useage over next 6 months or so will be £2.5k or so.....
I've had a mail from Bulb saying they are reducing mine from £255 to £235. I'm £380 in credit. Sounds like they've made a mistake or you use crazy usage

Just a day or so until new rates come in and I still haven't had a letter in from SSE telling me what the new THTC rates will be...

Got my letter today. ironically the same day the electrician came to start work on my new heating system. They estimate I'm going up from £80pcm to £105pcm gas/leccy combined, with tax and gov assistance accounted for. My neighbour has to contribute because I power the shared sewage treatment system and my new system will be much more efficient on gas, and existing wood will replace lots of that gas. Although I will need to buy some anthracite nuts ;)

i am no red voter - never voted labour before so next election could be a 1st..... but we are still some time yet.. they dont need to spill their full load yet. It is obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense that storage has to be part of any renewable package and i hope Labour act on that. (that is giving the benefit of the doubt that the whole thing isnt hot air)

but either way for my vote it isnt really important. for what.... 12 - will be likely 14 years by the time the election comes - we will have had an inept, corrupt government, breaks the rules with impunity and happy to tank the economy and do their best to hide the costings of their nonsense because they know it wont work and are just helping their donors..... (i would not be surprised if a few of them who knew what was coming were happy to short the £ and make bank because they knew the effect it would have!)

so bottom line for me (not speaking for anyone else) Labour dont really have to be all that to be better than what we have... i just want the current lot out and will vote tactically for whoever ever that takes in my constituency. For me it is way beyond blue, red, yellow or green now, it is just about getting this vile lot out.

PS i do not understand this problem some have with smart meters.....without them you cant make use of taking advantage of the wild daily energy fluctuations in price, and this is something that is going to have to happen going forward imo.
I like my smart meter too but I've luckily never had any problems with it.

So if someone submits it in the morning of 1st October, they are suggesting that energy companies will charge you on Oct rates for,.quite obviously, a months worth of energy?

What idiots.

aye itll be exactly that, but im gonna have to phone n them again and ask for mt dd to be set to 200 again... beat part of a 40min wait last time

You could just leave it, will probably adjust back to £200 again by itself later. It's effectively £200 with the gov bit added at the moment.

Failing that my advice is generally to go onto variable/whole amount DD, less hassle! (assuming you can ride out more expensive winter and less expensive summer months).

Got moved to BG last year when suppliers went bust, i honestly can say i've never seen a billing history quite like BG's. I submit a monthly gas reading and electric is on a smart meter (that they installed), results are below... for reference our monthly actual usage charges this summer should have been around £148 for gas and electric based on the readings.

If your tariff is above the new 'reduced' rates due in Oct then yeah, that would be stupid to do. I guess there is a huge amount of variation with tariffs so YMMV!
