In my opinion the end result is the same, Europe is being increasingly destabilised (America is very happy with this!) and long term it will provoke conflict and balkanisation. There is a huge arrogance from lots of people about how great Western culture is. They don't understand quite a lot of people have no respect for what is weak, and a larger proportion who see the "west" currently and think it's pretty grim. Demographics will win in the end...as always. But for now its great for those in power.

This is a false equivalence. Let me see if you can work out the difference in these two defnitions. One applies to Ukrainian's who have had their country illegaly invaded and have been raped and murdered in their thousands. The other is a bunch of people moving of their own volition to avoid being drafted. I doubt you need long to work out what definition applies to what group.

Refugee:
People who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country.

Emigrant:
An emigrant is someone moves away from a country through their own choice.

Why do you think they held sham elections and annexed those areas? Now they can claim they're being attacked on Russian soil and respond with a stronger defence.

They could try that but the reality is very different. Russia would have zero support if it used tactical nukes in these "annexed" areas. Not even China would support tha move. On the other hand if Russia was attacked inside it's internationally recognised borders, then it would have more sympathy if tactical nukes were used.

Maybe, or maybe it's because they're not allowed to deploy conscripts outside Russia. By declaring these territories as Russian they can now send conscripted troops into Ukraine.

Cant happen

If you think about it when Ukraine see a build up on the border again they will have hundreds of arty and aircraft ready for them.

It would be a slaughter before they could even step 1 foot over the border.

Ukraine will not wait again they will see it as an invasion right away.

I don't think there's been any evidence offered that Russia did it either! Not to mention that there is other nations that will benefit from the destruction of the Nordstream pipelines. There's a lot of cloak and daggers going on around this.
