Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Well, the letter came in today. Heating control (aka pretty much unused since central heating) is going up by like half a pence, whereas the standard rate is going up a whopping 8p to 38, as apparently the government price cap can't fully cover it.

Load of ****.

It's fantastic when you're trapped on that tarriff as they refuse to remove the meters up here because it is too complex for them to bother with.

Who's your supplier?

I dont get my supplier. My old tariff finished last month so my new rates mean my electric should almost triple but they are leaving me on £64 per month and now since the rebate comes in a £67 they have said my DD will be zero for the next several months.

But i know it will then jump back up to £150 per month or more so I have changed it to £110 per month which should now even it all out for the whole year rather than paying nothing now and lots more later. I thought they would have worked all that for me.

Just got the business rates through, wow...

I will wait until they figure out the business relief before I take another look.

Spoke to a broker and these rates are better than what they can offer.

I presume 21p is what you are currently on???? Yeah business electric prices are scary. Kicking myself I didnt grab 18p day and 9p night time for 5 years last year. Ended up waiting to see if they were any better after winter and grabbed 28p day and 12p night earlier this year when things didnt look like ever getting nay better. Kicker was the £16 per day daily service charge though!

That's a shame, I cried a little when OVO got taken over by SSE, I have never dealt with a worse company than SSE to be honest!

I cannot help sadly but from what I hear if you can get hold of some of the OVO staff you will be ok,the SSE staff appear to be non-existant!

Well, OVO seem to have a dedicated 'complex meter' phone line, which seems to be the only people in the entire company that know how they work.

I have also read that they won't consider removal of the meter until 2023. Feels like I have to demand an adjusted tarriff or rewrire the bloody system to avoid being scammed.

You have a warmhome tariff yeah? Three part off peak?

THTC. 24/7 cheap rate and standard rate.

The 24/7 rate was hooked up to storage heaters that no longer exist, so goes unused. Hence me thinking 'to hell with this' and just wire the standard rate stuff into the 24/7 if they're gonna fob me like this :D

AHH yes I remember that one, some clever idea the government had back in the 80's.....

To be fair there is nothing stopping you from doing that! Unless you are in a council/housing association property then it's illigal!

Nah, own this house, so in theory the worst they could do is demand I be taken off that meter and put on a new one.

Which would save me the hassle of making them do it! :D

Do you work in this sector or something?

Yeah metering specialist for EDF but moved into other fields along the way.

Company I work for are hopeless for wasting energy, the main office being a prime example. No-one can decide on correct temp so they have Aircon set to 21 with windows open. You then have individuals who say they're freezing so have little fan heaters under their desks.
