It is hilarious that the Ukrainian forces are the better trained with better tactics.

I think this will cause a massive purge am ok amongst the Russian forces, where nepotism has likely caused incompetent people to be in charge.

Russia were hoping to occupy Ukraine remember. The losses of life and perpretation of abuses make it difficult to find it that intriguing though.

What are they supposed to do? Protesters get jailed and people who speak out get killed.

We're on a slippery slope ourselves. Our own politicians are slowly killing our country.

Absolutely no comparison or you would not dare write such crap.

The west are training them.

In 3 months? The Ukrainian army was well prepared before the support came rolling in.

Also the West doesn't have magic training material. It just takes effort which Russia ignored.

We've been helping to train them since the annexation of Crimea.

Also they are defending their Country, whereas Russian soldiers don't really know why they are risking their lives to attack Ukraine, so morale is completely different for both sides.

There probably will be a purge - Putin purges the armed forces after every conflict - but it won't do anything to actually improve the forces. Putin does not tolerate a effective, high status, army because it is a threat to his power; he's more worried about a coup than he is about losing in Ukraine.

The stories about the depths of corruption in Russia were well known before this war, but the consequences were missed by most. And it's a problem that Russia cannot solve without fairly fundamental change. Change which threatens Russia's power structures, and thus cannot be achieved.

I think numbers helped. Full mobilisation from day one by the Ukraine has let numbers slow the Russians down enough and bleed them white. The 6 months of in the job training had done more training than the wests involvement. This is paying dividends now when numbers plus experience kick in. Russias partial mobilisation is a recognition (too late) that an experienced and numerical army is no push over.

Give all those men that where conscripted on the train without ammo and their might be a sudden change of who is in charge in the filed at least loll.

Why?.Ill sit here all day thinking about Nuclear destruction, something that its utterly out of the control of EVERYONE here except a few world leaders.

I think your confused. I don't any of us are sitting around thinking about it. But pretending it doesnt exist or couldnt happen because you cant control something is rather silly imo

I grew up firmly in the cold war, I lived near Bentwaters at that time so was firmly in the crosshairs should anything have happened, I just accepted it.
I now live near two other US bases and again accept should there be load let fly it would almost certainly be a target (somewhat near cambridge as well)
I dont lose sleep over it.

I think what the nuclear doom and gloom people tend to be forgetting is that Putin still has a number of realistic other options.
He has consistently been distancing himself from, and setting the scene, to blame the russian MoD and senior military commanders in the event they get pushed out of Ukraine entirely.
Just look at how he has distanced himself from the mobilisation debacle in order to keep russian public support.
Even with the pipeline sabotage, he had no reason to hide what he did, other than he still wants to appear reasonable.
These are not the actions of a man looking to blow everything up.
His most likely tactic is to blame others, purge them, and then carry on, regardless of what happens in Ukraine.

So you do ignore it then lol.

General Lapin has recently been criticized by Kadyrov for losing Lyman.

His response:

“Kadyrov said that I should be demoted to the rank of private, stripped of all awards and sent with a machine gun in my hands to the front line to wash away my shame with blood. And all this for the fact that I allegedly holed up in Luhansk, 150 kilometers from my units. Well, I took an example from Kadyrov, who sits thousands of kilometers away from his units on a luxurious sofa, sitting on this sofa he has repeatedly taken Kyiv and even prepared for an attack on Poland*.* I didn’t have such a luxurious sofa in Luhansk and I gave orders not on Tik-Tok broadcasts, but via special communications.”

1991, USA tested the new warfare models against Soviet style, smashed it and modified it since. Russia still fighting as if its the 1980`s.
