Pretty sure this latest news article is based on comments Biden said in a private convo that was overheard by a journalist at some fundraiser/ conference event.

People in this thread making out he has stood up on Tv publicly threatening a nuke response …

British Intelligence update today!

I still think its unlikely, I honestly think Putin is trying to limit test if he could and if he did how bad the response would be.

If he did a limited strike with nukes I still think escalation would be massive conventional from NATO+++.
Plus basically everyone globally going to maximum defence / panic mode.
In the west chaos will ensue. Massive run on supplies for bunker building, massive run on food etc.
IE he wont need to go full on nuclear, he can cause chaos far before then.

At that point I think its back in Putins hands, does he go all out or not.
Or does he sit by and watch us semi self destruct as well.

To me it seems like Putin has accepted that he cannot take Ukraine but in doing so has a set a red line that they must take back the four annexed regions. I can't see Putin accepting anything less that this.

He accepted that he cannot take Ukraine because he was *forced* to accept it on the battlefield.

The Ukrainian army is in the process of *forcing* him to accept that he cannot have *any* of Ukraine.

I think folks are right to be concerned about possible use of low yield tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine but probably wrong about any escalation that lead to.

I can't see Putin accepting anything less that this. Use of small yield tactical nuclear weapons could certainly achieve that, but given how Ukraine's current fast paced counter offensive the best outcome would be to create a no go around around the four annexed regions but at the cost of probably contamination of those 4 annexed regions themselves. If the use of these weapons was strictly limited to Ukraine and any associated fallout minimized to NATO countries I can't see any real escalation other than additional sanctions on Russia.
It would be an amazing show of weakness to use any nuclear weapon.

I don't know how it could be justified - Russia is under no threat, it can walk away from this at any time. It's not like Ukraine is approaching Moscow.

BRB, stocking up on toilet roll.

We jest right, but IMO it would be 10x worse than the COVID panic buying.
Not only would people be trying to buy everything they can (especially cans ;) ) but people would be going, whats the point in going to work if we will all be dead in 2 days, better to be at home and preparing my bunker, once I have bought a months food, a load of gas canisters, etc etc

The majority of the armed forces would be needed to stop civil issues, but thats assuming all the police and military to not take the same approach as above. We might not have that much left at that point in order to actually spend time degrading Russia.

COVID IMO was a VERY good example of how easily the herd will undertake illogical "me me me!" actions.

We can send you postcards from Australia (as firewood) if that helps...

E. I just read Bidens story on the abc news site and theres nothing about causing Armageddon as a usa choice.

Completely agree. yes it was in jest but next time I'm at the supermarket I will probably buy a few extra cans just in case.
