What’s the reason for them rejecting the extension of the dropped kerb?

Also took me 3 applications for them to approve, the first they said it was too close to a side road, the second reason was because the road was a 30mph limit, there wasn’t sufficient viewing distance for cars.

It was only when Ringway contractors came out and assessed the area that it went through ok and they couldn’t understand why it had been rejected previously.
Unsure, will ask in the group. We are close to some shops and an allotment which I reckon could play into it.

We do have a drop it's just a single car width and slightly off centered so suboptimal but not a deal breaker.

Subbed, would love to get a driveway in mine but the drop kerb application was denied due to "turning into oncoming traffic".

We live in a cul-de-sac with a turning point, when I just said I'd just turn left and turn around in the turning spot they said I would need to reapply (another £240) as they don't allow appeals.

Yeah I'm expecting this kind of nonesense so will think about it much later on.

All done. Not without issues though. The ACO drain goes nowhere ("opps must have forgotten to knock it through!") and an extra £700 that I wasn't able to dispute (have been cycling 100 miles for charity) to relocate the manhole and repair a tiny wall. Saga on-going.

Looks much better though.

Looks good! Hell of a change. How much it cost?

Bit unfortunate the drain doesnt work, are they able to sort it?

Thanks, I think so!

Quoted £5650 and then tried it on with a £700 fee to fix the wall bottom left (which tbf I hadn't asked them to). I told him I'd do £6k and he accepted it. Have paid 70% on the basis he comes back and digs out a soakaway crate.

£6k is about 40% cheaper than the "top dogs" in the area so I was expecting some BS.

He is coming back to fix it tomorrow as his 30% fee depends on it lol. Not holding my breathe. Something I can fix myself tbf.

Also the wall is only a single brick which for the tiny bit of earth it is holding back should be OK but something on my "10 year list" to sort out.

Seems quite a lot of work for 6kish to be fair! At least it's water running off the drive to be fair, mines the opposite where it runs towards the house which wouldn't be something you want to not work!

Noo I didn't make it in time.

Looks great, if I came from the future I'd have said set with silka setting grout rather than sand only.

I got tegula also (Marshalls) and the spacing is too close now to use setting compound for my sloped drive (sand keeps washing out) but your slope looks ok I guess.

how did he dig out a soakaway ? it looks like just a few bricks have been removed ... not a sort of 2'x2'x 4'+deep hole ..
I assume it can't be beneath the pavement

Ah man it was quite humorous.

I saw him lift about 3 bricks and the bit of drain, and thought "ffs here we go. never mind I can dig out the garden and make my own soakaway"...

Then the gaffa turned up with that ENORMOUS crate and about 8 bags of gravel, and you could see the lads face from where I was sat WFH'ing...

He ended up taking out a lot more bricks, digging DEEP down, and I kid you not that entire crate was sank in its entirety. I wouldn't have believed it had I not sat here and watched him. Probably here from 10 till about 4, so a good 6 hour job without an ounce of a break.
