Corner TV unit for 55" TV - struggling

Or something like this, where the front edge is cut away as well as the rear.

Ive seen those, and was what I was trying to replicate with my first design on page 1. The problem with the premade ones is they are all quite tall.

pythagoras says ours is 114 across diagonal https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-fern-coffee-table/oak/p5122887

otherwise bracket like other thread

UPDATE I have a mount.
But it's a cantilever heavy duty one.

It's already very heavy (~9kg) and the tv is 17kgs.
Do you think I'll be ok drilling into the mortar or does this need the brick.
I'm really hoping mortar will be ok since I have no hammer drill.

Don't know where you're located - but there's loads of those TV units on Facebook Marketplace where I live. Whilst I don't think I've got the nerve to take a saw to a £400 piece of furniture, if you can pick one up for £30, it's a different story.

Chop the legs off.

To be honest I have a 55" TV in similar sized room and it is too big. If anything your opening is even smaller. I'll probably change mine for smaller whenever I get a new tv but not in a huge rush (it's a 6 year old tv and I just picked up a 2nd hand unit for 60 quid).

Edit:I'm sure if you posted in home cinema forum they'd tell you to get a 65"+ TV though!

Making it yourself depends on your capabilities and what tools you have. As I mentioned before something MDF or plywood with a nice veneer glued on can look good, it's how most furniture is made anyway. An expensive option is to have your design commission built by someone who does it as a living.

Did you make that yourself? Looks great

I know you said no bracket but honestly I think that is the best case scenario for you -- I posted a pic in my other thread where you asked where I am putting mine. Here is a close up of the bracket. It will hold your 55" no problems whatsoever. You can then angle it so it sits absolutely snug with either wall.

I bought one of those brackets, which I seem to remember is an Amazon bracket. the problem for me was that it wasn't big enough to do the job so I made what looks like a large piece of toblerone out of 20mm plywood that screwed to the corner of the wall, and attached the bracket to that. the end result is impressive, the TV seems to float in mid air several feet from the corner. Course you have to be good at making stuff, the Toblerone has to be seriously strong.

Small normal shaped TV unit against the back wall, TV on suitably sized arm to come out and position where you want it. Job done. Although, don’t forget some trunking for cable management or it will look like a child has done it.

Having it on an arm will let you position it slightly in front of the mantelpiece as well, giving you a little more room for a TV that probably is just a fraction too big for the space.
