The Liverpool Club Thread. **No Spoilers**

It's pointless, we're not going to win 5-0 to go first in the group. It's an exhibition.

I'd rather we rest as many players as we could. Especially drop VVD, Fabinho and Henderson out of the squad entirely and tell them if their replacements play well they start next week in PL. Rest TAA, Salah, Bobby and Nunez as we don't have covers for them and lots of matches are coming up. Fill up the squad with the list B.

Give Calvin Ramsay a game as well. He's been decent for U21s and deserves it.
There's only 3 games coming up after this one with one of those being the carabao cup before the break for the world cup, I'd play Nunez/Salah/Elliot as a front 3, drop VVD and Fab replace them with Konate and give Trent a go in the middle next to Thiago, throw in Bajcetic or Curtis and Ramsey at rb. it's a free hit so may as well.

Sounds good. Trent in midfield can actually solve some of our problems if it works out, he was a midfielder-turned-into-RB anyway. I'd give Nat Phillips a run as well (and he should play again in the league cup too). Gomez should be dropped and he should clear his head.

You’ll need to score more than 4, there’s no way in Christendom that Napoli are not scoring past that Liverpool defence.

They’ve averaged 4 goals a game so far.

In what's not shocking news Keita has yet another injury.

Needs selling

His contract is expiring at the end of the season. Nobody is buying him. i highly doubt we'd give him a new contract but I've seen stranger things from this club.

The guy's been a complete disaster, one of our worst signings ever, but there are numerous reports about us trying to tie him down to a new contract so I wouldn't be shocked to see us waste even more money on him.

Could count on my hand the amount of good games he has had at most.

Spends far too much time injured, then has 10 meh games if that one great game and injured again for months

The only reason they might wanna give him another contract would be that we're likely letting Milner and Oxlade go as well and they don't want to spend money replacing 3 midfielders in one go so they take a chance on Keita, hoping a relatively injury-free season. I'd rather we get rid of him ASAP.

Yeah if we was meh but always available he would have been valuable, all teams need rotation players like that. But he's never available.

Not just his availability, he was subbed off against Real Madrid in the Champions League for basically going on strike in the first half of the game, twice.

One of the reasons I've been so hard on Trent is he looks like he can't be bothered at times this season, I can forgive poor form but not a complete lack of effort and Keita doesn't appear to be willing to put the defensive work in even when he has played.

There's also talk about giving Bobby a new contract. He's been unable to press for at least two years so unless Klopp's going to rip up his style of play and play a way that'll get the best of out players like him, it'll be another mistake imo.

Bobby's fine coming off the bench, when he is forced to start through injury you can see how much he has fallen compared to previous levels - has he even scored since having to start games due to the injuries we've had?

Bobby can play well if his time is managed. He doesn't have the same level of fitness as before, he can't play like he used to, basically a full 90 minutes twice a week.

Only against Rangers. He hasn't scored or assisted in the league after that Arsenal match when Diaz got injured, despite starting all 4 matches since (and two other CL matches).

Out of the 3 potential going, if I'm balancing potential I'd give it to ox.

Keep milner on as a coach of some kind

If neither is possible let all 3 go and replace all 3

eh? potential and nearly 30 year old Oxlade-Chamberlain is something I never thought I would see..

Ox is not getting a new contract. I don't even think he'll play in PL next season, nobody would take him. He might play in the MLS.

Milner could be given another 12 months in some sort of player/coach role but Ox and Keita are gone. Fwiw, I don't think Keita's injured (or at least that's the primary reason for him not featuring), I think something went on at the back end of the summer window and he's been bombed out. There were lots of stories coming out of Germany about Keita wanting more game time or he'd leave, possibly even this summer gone and I think Klopp decided to completely drop him because he wasn't fully onboard.

The Keita signing has been frustrating from day one. I'm fairly sure that he's got the highest win percentage of any player in our history that's played more than a few games and on the whole, whenever he's played he played well but it just seemed like when we really needed him in an important moment or a big game, he'd throw in a shocking performance or more often, he'd just be injured. He could never manage more than a couple of months without being out for a 2, 3, 4 weeks. I don't recall him having a bad injury record before joining us - maybe he's just been unlucky or maybe he's just another midfielder that cannot cope with the physical demands Klopp's football requires.

100% agree. He was fit for his country in the meantime wasnt he then all of a sudden injured again.

He was named in the squad but didn't travel. With Keita it's entirely possibly that he could be injured but the timing of the stories being leaked by him/his agent and then his complete disappearance seems odd. Despite being out for less time and returning to training around the same time as Ox, he's not featured in any squad when Ox has.
