Sea kings are a interesting choice, I wonder if we are going to see a push for Crimea itself sooner rather than later, they would keep the fleet somewhat penned in for sure. One of the most shakey aircraft i have been in.

They're famous for search and rescue, so harder for Russia to claim they're being bullied by NATO sending its best offensive kit.

Could have been useful when the Moskva went down :D

Entire Kyiv region without electricity

Russian strikes have left the entire Kyiv region without power, and the capital without water supply, city officials have said.

Moldova blackouts after Russia attacks Ukraine

Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure have resulted in "massive" blackouts in Moldova, its deputy prime minister Andrei Spînu, said.

Moldelectrica, the state-owned energy firm, is working to reconnect more than 50 per cent of the country to electricity, he added.

It's all so depressing and sad.

At this point, I just don't understand what Russia are doing, it just seems they're vandalising everything for the sake of it, whilst being so criminally inept to actually get on any sort of road to victory - instead, they'll just lob missiles at civillian targets.

It's disgusting.

The strategy seems to be to try and push Ukraine into agreeing a winter ceasefire by cutting off the infrastructure they need to heat their homes so that Russia can re-arm and re-tool during the ceasefire.

It's disgusting.

It is. It will take decades for Russia to wash this stain off their reputation.

The truth is that Putin is responsible for a murderous war of aggression - is it so unreasonable to hate him?

Nope, not even in the slightest, he deserves all the hate people can throw at him for his actual actions, so people inventing additional things they think Putin has done just to generate some additional hate just seems worthless compared the hate generated by his real actions.

The girl (second one from the right) that is protesting against the war in downing street looks to be the same girl as in the youtube video below

They are deliberately targeting power plants, as they are critical infrastructure and difficult to repair/ replace. That affects all aspects of Ukraine, from civilian use to manufacturing military equipment.

Russia don't care about civilian casualties, or their own, if they can slow Ukraine down. Russia have decided if they can't take it, they'll break it.

The US did the same (infrastructure targeting, including power plants) in the gulf war, so it is not unprecedented.

Clearly things didn't go according to the original plan (presumably that Russian tanks and artillery roll in, local agents and sympathizers rise up, Ukraine folds like a cheap umbrella and a Russian friendly puppet government is installed). It's understandable that Putin might take a while to grasp Ukraine's will to fight, their level of international support and the shambolic state of his own forces. But we've now seen month after month of Russian losses and humiliation, with them trying to level the country they are supposed to be liberating. I'm guessing that Putin isn't much of a "cut your losses" guy and will keep doubling down until someone/something stops him.

**** NATO including this country for not proving longer range equipment to avoid ‘escalation’. It’s cold as **** here without heating, I can only imagine there. I feel so sad for the Ukrainians. Russia just wants to cause misery at this point. I’d provide 10 long range missiles for every single one fired at Ukraine. Russia won’t do **** in response.

I think the issue with providing longer range missiles is that most of our stuff is air or sea launched and Ukraine doesn't have the platforms for them which only leaves ground-based stuff that we don't have much of since our doctrine focuses on air superiority.
