The Kia doesn't ride as well or feel as luxurious, inside or out, Kia has a lot going for it but none of it equates to being a premium vehicle, purely value based brand, bit like a Mustang, big engine in a fundamentally value based car. Some people don't mind paying more for things they want out of it.
I think long the same lines as yourself with my missus SUV, for the money I could be in a Cayman GT4 or Evora 410 which I'd much rather drive but you know, they can't carry the family, tow a big trailer and do it all in supeme comfort and silence, different things for different needs.

All that money and its still slower than my previous 10 year old M3 
. I know it probably weighs 50% more. It just insane how expensive cars are in general. The guy I mentioned earlier in this thread (a long time ago lol), his Mrs finally got her fiesta, and he's got a new polo and it was 24 grand for a polo, it's not even a gti. My wife's old car was a 62 plate focus st and (we got it used) I'm sure brand new the list price on that was something like mid twenties.

£30k over 3 years has outright purchase of a Sierra Cosworth written allover it, just might take a few more years at those payments. No depreciation though

For me that'd be a couple of hours each day, a good chunk of my personal time why shouldn't it be a nice place to be, doubt there could be a much worse vehicle for doing a cross town stop start commute than a Cossie these days, I might prefer a bicycle...no that's a step to far
I'n my twenties my Sierra was great but 30 years ago when it was good

I did discount that deal rather quickly, and you are right really that £30,000 over 3 years to essentially rent a car is silly money.
When I look back, my Polestar 2 which is worth 50k will have only cost me just over £5000 a year to drive, which is more reasonable.
That's the whole point of the thread really, those deals which made contract hire worth it don't seem to be around at the moment.
The BMW was an 80k car mind you vs your polestar which by your numbers in thread was a 50k car at the time you would have paid 18k over 3yrs for (491 a month). None are a bargain

This. the rates have gone up massively. We still have an order at work for a VW Touareg R at £530 per month which we wont cancel despite it now being expected to be delivered 2 years and 4 months after ordering because if you priced the car up today it would be more like £800 per month.

I'm amazed they'll still provide it at that price, the specification has surely changed sufficiently in 3 years for it to be a different product now and there are loads of reports of people being asked for more money with waits far shorter than 3 years.

I had a two year deal and get 50% of the VAT back through work.
Also the BIK is 2%

If it's a business might not want to annoy a future customer.
We order 50+ vans from the same dealer each year in work so they are pretty nice to us for obvious reasons.
We are currently in a position now where we could afford a nicer car but I was looking at the cost of it and couldn't justify it. I saw a 'deal' on a PCP focus. It was £2.5k deposit then £300 a month!
Sadly i expect you will be right. there will have been two price rises and two (small) yearly model spec changes before it finally arrives. I was just pointing out how quickly in two years we have gone from "reasonable" £500-£600 per month for a high end/luxury car to suddenly everything is £800 per month.
Hopefully not though as we got our vans delivered last week at their original quoted price from 18 months ago, despite the fact they are currently £130 per month more money.

Plus the increased cost of borrowing now is a bit shocking, I looked to requote my car as MY24 had faster charging etc. and the interest difference (I chose PCP as it was cheaper than lease due to bigger discounts and finance offers when I originally signed) An extra 9k interest (£187 a month) over the same term despite down speccing the car to similar price point
I stuck with the slow charger but otherwise higher spec car Might be a bit apples to Oranges as that includes reduced FDC on MY24 too, so not all interest but 4.4% - 9.9% is quite a shift.

Yes 10,000 ÷ 365 is "27 miles per day" and most people who drive only do 20 miles a day, and that includes commuting.
But if you are like me, then some days you don't drive at all and other days you do 200+ miles. Take out that pointless waste of time commuting the same roads day in, day out and suddenly the car you use to do 10K miles per annum in becomes a bit more important.
