Parent & Child Parking

I'm fairly confident child and parent spaces aren't installed to make parents or children feel special. They're there because removing a child from a seat, or removing a child seat (for the ones that clip to a push chair to make a pram) from the car does require more room.

I don't have children and even I understand that.
It's only the simpletons that don't understand that.

Assumptions all around.

But quite frankly I'm tired of conforming to ridiculous ideas of some people, and I think children should be discouraged rather than entitled to advantages.

You are correct that the owner of the land should have the say in this, in that case I agree.

It’s to avoid them being run over, quite a horrific event for all parties.

I’m tired of people who think their interpretation of the rules should differ to how the landowner has decided to allocate the land use. How’s that for entitled.

Mate we need children else the country is screwed. Get over yourself.

I bet people that park in P&C spaces without a child are the same ones that leave trolleys strewn about the car park as well

Big assumption there... I witnessed a kid of around 9-10 standing at their parents car and, as soon as they had finished emptying the trolley, the kid then just pushed the trolley away into the car park under the "watchful supervision" of the parent. Nothing was said as they jumped in and drove away.

Yeah, anecdotal, but as equal in quality as your statement.

They left the kid there and drove off? That's my sort of parenting!

Thread going as expected.....

Absolutely

People with kids think P&C space users without kids present are the devil spawn and should be publicly birched and their car vandalised

People without kids not understanding or purposely being ***** when challenged as to why they use them when they shouldn't

Usual general public attitudes of individuals being more important than everyone else.

I did once have a rat run out of the back door of my car in Tesco in Whitchurch, a big pregnant doe. Just as some woman was about to berate me for parking in the breeders bay. The shock seemed to stun her into silence. Not sure if it entered the store or was off to the pub. The things had chewed through a big wiring loom grommet in the bulkhead and taken up residence under the folded back seats. They love eating wiring looms, they seem to prefer them over near anything else, so can be a big PITA.

Before P&C parking spaces were invented I really wish they had been .
I can't count how many cars I may have damaged by trying to get my kids in and out of my car.
Door open, you're struggling with child seats and then your bum bangs the door into another car.
It isn't the children at fault, it's helping parents to not damage somebody else's piece of metal.

Ironically when people can’t get P&C they would probably rather abandon the trolley near their car than walk 100m away from their car with a 1 and 3 year old left alone in? It’s the return to the car with the shop where their benefits are obvious.

But that’s me thinking about other people, this isn’t the place :p

I've told my daughter if she ever gets engaged to someone who doesn't take their trolley back, I'm not paying for the wedding because they are a ****!

Most P&C bays have a pathway next to them so that the parents can safely walk from the car to the store, purely for the safety of the child.

Child and parent spaces are simply not legally enforcable. I always park at spots where I can't be fined legally (be it family or women bays, or wrong signage for loading areas or other illegal stuff) of it fits the job better than a normal parking spot...

Entitled? People with children feel they are entitled... **** off with your private parking bays, park like the rest of us, completely different situation than disabled people who actually need it. There is no law or regulation for family parking spots...

These days I can always park next to the entrance at the electric spots though because I can actually charge my car there :).

Most supermarket car parks are private land and now often controlled by a parking management firm. Use of the car park is subject to terms, one of which is usually parking in the correct bay type. These firms will "fine" you for breach of contract if you park in a bay not designated for your use.

If only that were the attitude of your parents....

There are enough ridiculous rules, regulations and laws already, so if something is not in the law then don't be surprised people ingore such ''courtesy's''.

Delicious irony right here; complaining there are too many "ridiculous" rules, regulations and laws, and then goes on to perfectly illustrate why these need to exist in the first place.

Perhaps if some people weren't absolute **** then we wouldn't need "ridiculous" laws to enforce things which should be common sense

By all means carry on being an arrogant ****, but at least have the balls to admit to it instead of trying to make convoluted arguments as to why you aren't an arrogant ****

It's actually silly how much you people are bothered by it.
Luckily I've never seen such a parking bay here bar at one place, Intratuin, a garden center near here. The rest of the shops don't do such moronic things like parent+child parking. We live in a different country so the chance you'll be bothered by me IRL is non existent.

Here they aren't, it's the public road and even if private land, unless you have controlled access (a barrier) falls under the law and regulations of a public road, and parking management firms have nothing to say about the public road. Also sounds ver sketchy, how can they ever enforce family parking?
common sense
No, special parking for people with children is not common sence, it's entitlement, luckily we don't see such idiotic ideas here very often. A parking bay is a parking bay and should be used for anyone.

It’s the people who park in the roadway, right outside the shop, whilst they use the cash machine when the car park is half empty that **** me off.
That’s me in my BMW, I’m allowed to though as the badge gives me priority over other people.
