Who else is in the same boat as me?
me and the mrs have two cars,
one cars fine and won’t be affected by the new ulez that’s pushing into our area
and the other we now have to sell asap as it’s gonna be a no go in the ulez

i wouldn’t mind but it’s only got 50k on the clock and a1 condition

anyone else stuck on what todo ?

With the price of pre-owned cars still being high, at least it's a good time to have to sell it. Would be more of an annoyance if second hand car costs had dropped and you get less than its true worth.

Me! Station car is compliant, CLS350 diesel isn’t.

We’ve come to the conclusion we’ll only likely drive it a couple of times a month (long journeys) like we do now, so for the time being we’ll keep it and swallow the £25 a month. Was only likely to keep it another couple of years until the service plan ran out anyway and we’ve had it for 10 years so we’ve had some decent value for money.

I understand though, it’s a 2010 with 64k and FSH and a lovely car!

I would fully expect lots of big old diesels to be going for sale within the M25 soon!

this is the problem price of used cars are high as I’ve noticed,
but the cars that fail the ulez zones are only gonna be worth a penny to people outside the ulez up the map! I’m in sunny London lol

I would get shot pronto. The Russian diesel import ban comes in next month I think. Might not be good for the medium term diesel price.
It’s going on trader the w.e as it’s been raining non stop for days where i live.
not had a chance to get it properly cleaned in between work and blasting call of duty

I'm going to be loving it :( everything I drive aside from the Qashqai are big engine diesels now and even the QQ is a 1.6 dCi.

My friend at work has a 1 series diesel that he loves. He has to park it at the in-laws then get a taxi lol.

As someone who's lived in London for the last 16 years, and has intimate experience with London's air quality, the improvement in air quality has been a game changer. If I put an AHU filter from 15 years ago next to one from today, keeping all the variables the same, the difference would blow your mind.

That said, the advent of hybrid buses, EVs, cycling and other pollution reducing measures are likely enough to justify scrapping the ULEZ zone, but as with anything Gov related, if it earns money, it's staying for good.

All these incentives to go green and whatnot just do my head in, what's the environmental impact of scrapping a perfectly usable car with a decade of life in it and buying something brand new, versus just keeping the car for it's useful remaining lifespan? It's ridiculous.

Yup - this is the big question!

Also the issue of people who need to commute into town - maybe it's better in London, but the last few months have been a nightmare in BHM. Trains aren't fit for purpose, buses take forever, and now the CAZ fee - it's pretty clear they're actively trying to kill city centres.

The strikes are screwing everything up here at the moment too. Both buses and trains, and it's on such short notice that companies aren't able to prepare for them either, it's ridiclous.

road tax is often high on these cars too, I wouldn't drive into london with current car, and would probably sell if they introduced similar setup in Cambridge,
but buyers would definitely mark down the price they are prepared to offer.

london, just a cash grab by Sadiq, also, no data to suggest other non russian diesel supplies won't join the market to redress diesel/petrol price disequilibrium,
seems the existing ULEZ had produced some small mean 3% reduction in Nox/No2 .. and some sites started now increased or returned to pre-ulez levels ..
slower traffic flow being one reason. ... stupid sadiq barking up wrong tree.

Has the ultra low emission zone in London improved air quality?

Like OP me and the wife have 2 cars with being compliant and the other not. We are looking at taking a loan out to replace the Lexus which is non compliant but with used car prices and cost of living we are limited to price. It's a joke as I'm 1 mile from the A2 which would cost 12.5 to travel south to work.

I’ve got a 116d sport and the road tax is £30 a year,
And our other car is a fiat 500 sport and that’s 0 road tax,
But obviously I have to get a family sized car for the kids road tax is gonna be ridiculous I can already tell

I live a mile or so outside the extended ULEZ zone and my old Mini is Euro 3 and so not exempt. Luckily I don't need to commute to work within the zone so I'll likely just keep the car and do my shopping outside the zone. One thing that puts me off getting a second hand Euro 4 car is not knowing if or when the zone will switch to demanding Euro 5 or whatever.
