What "man jobs" have you done today?

Bought myself a saw horse to help with the processing of the twigs on the drive

Had a rummage through them and found a doner stump to transfer the Kindling Cracker to

Found myself a decent chopping log and whipped out the x27

Which given the size and moisture content of the logs was quickly swapped out for the maul .....

After two rounds I'm defo going to have to rethink the temporary storage solution

New plug on the device. Chuck the extension, or at the very least blank that socket off. Poor contact in there has caused high resistance and the heat.
 
It was a 10m extension, fully uncoiled so capable of the full 13a rating. As soon as we smelt something was up it was turned off and unplugged at the wall side, pin has been pulled out of the extension too.

Taking the plug apart it's clear to see why there was huge resistance and overload at that point.....

Just look how little of the cable was attached to the pin :eek:
 
Chaps,

I need to paint the lower half of the WC. A bit of it is pure plaster. There is a slight lip between paint and plaster.

What's the best primer/solution to the lip?

Also I have some dado that you can't do the coping saw trick on as the pattern doesn't line up. I guess I just do 45 degree cuts?

Fix the lip if uneven. If it’s just a small patch then just chuck a coat on whilst cutting in and then when you roll twice it will probably disappear. If it’s large then mist it (50/50 water with cheap emulsion first)

For belt and braces magic sauce, Zinsser Gardz but doesn’t feel like you’d need it.

Forgot to mention, if texturally very different, either lots of sanding, lining paper if you could try a longer pile roller

I wouldn’t put all the emphasis on the plug. Given where it melted, it will have been a combination of the plug and the socket not making good contact. Given the state of the extension lead, both could well have been worn. Putting in a fresh plug may be fine temporarily but I wouldn’t rule out the fault reappearing in time.

Changed the plug and stuck the watt meter on, pulling around 2,200 constant, hasn't peaked any higher than 2,300 - the plug was definitely the issue!

Cop out - you have matching plugs there which means you wired the atrocity to the left. Therefore I wager you wired the death trap fire plug to :cry:
