I used to play for hours and hours when I was in my teens but my guitars stayed at my parents till I recently finished the study in my house and took them back :)

Anyone know how to tidy up a Floyd Rose? Mine seems to have tarnished and suffered a bit over the years :(

Would like to get back into playing :cool:
 
Really just wants taking apart and polishing up with a nice cloth and some polish (anything from Pledge to metal polish... Metal polish may be a bit harsh for gold plating).

You may find some of the gold has tarnished off but if you're gentle it should come up pretty great. All depends if you're confident stripping and reassembling a Floyd :p

Edit: TBF I'm not sure your intonation is right anyway so, may be worth a try anyway!

And so clearly cares more about the song rather than his guitar playing, I think he's really evolved into a song lover and performer in recent years :)

I think he was at a guitar show I went to in the mid 90s in the old Wembley Arena thing. He was on the billing. If it was him then he had this weird symmetrical 2 necked guitar doing two-handed shred-style tapping, one on each neck. It was impressive, but i left thinking, wtf is the point of that? In the way that someone doing amazing footwork ball skills and catching the football on their shoulders is impressive but useless in an actual match.

sounds like u saw Michael Angelo Batio - if you mean a guitar like this and not a normal double neck...

maybe Paul Gilbert had one too but I've only ever seen this dude playine one...

similar but not Y shaped, the necks were in line opposite side of the body and IIRC using the same pickups. Could have sworn it was Gilbert.

I love most of Spaceship, deffo enjoy him doing goofy pop songs :D I might even say I like PG best when he's doing covers?

I cleaned my vintage (standard) trem with coca cola and WD40 (in that order). Old toothbrush for a soft scrub. Obviously remove from the body first. Water rinse to get all cola residue off before using wd40 to drive out the water, penetrate remaining crud and loosen it. Rinse again (except for springs and screwthreads which benefit from the WD40). At the end leave on kitchen roll to absorb any residue.

Spent 2 hours last night stripping it down, cleaning it, sorting the action, intonation etc - Forgot how long these take to tune up lol

100% - best advice I can give is, get good at wedging the bridge into its resting position while you set the intonation and then adjust the springs til the wedge falls out. Definitely a knack to it!
