Inam trying to decide between 4070ti and 6800xt at the moment. Is amd a decent option for streaming over twitch compared to nvidia? Also which brand has the fastest and best rma process in case something goes south with the gpu?

Thanks.

When I RMA'ed my 3090 Founders Edition to nvidia, it had to go all the way to Hong Kong I think...
But, they paid for shipping both ways, fully insured / tracked etc.
Whole process took about 10 days from start to finnish, and it was over Xmas / New Year.

When I RMA'ed my RM750i PSU to Corsair, that went to Amsterdam. Again all paid for by Corsair, and process was done start to finnish in about 7 days. (Not over a holiday this time!)

When I recently RMA'ed my MM700 to Corsair it went to the other store in Bolton. End to end took about 5 days.

So sure, a UK RMA was the fastest. But I wouldnt necessarily buy a card based on where I need to send it if it fails, but rather how well they deal with the process.

I want the company to deal with shipping BOTH ways for example. I dont want to be the one who has to deal with any import/export forms, or ensuring that it is adequately insured. Worse... if the card got lost in shipping, I dont want to deal with the shipping firm to sort it.

I dont think there is an FE card for hte 4070ti sadly... otherwise id have recommended that. Nvidia where great to deal with for my RMA.

keep in mind consumer rights act 2015 your warranty up to 6 months is with the retailer you bought it from. After 6 months that you can still try speaking with retailer but its more than likely an RMA to AIB vendor.

I don't think the 6800xt has AV1 encode, so that might be important in the future for streaming?

Yeah, it doesn't, it was added with RDNA 3.

In the reviewer’s guide, AMD states that the H264 encoder can encode 4K video up to 180FPS in H264 and H265, up to 240FPS in AV1, and 8K at 48FPS in HEVC and 60FPS in AV1. While not as impressive as I discovered RTX 4000’s encoding capabilities are, this would still be great—but it’s more complicated than that.

You'll still have to go through the retailer though in many cases, as some AIBs simply won't deal with end users and will always direct you to the retailer, since they have deals in place with them to handle RMAs. I remember this thread about Sapphire recently, where Gibbo commented on just that:

That's why I always think it's best to buy from one of the large specialist PC retailers like OcUK, since they know the score on that front and will handle things for you, whereas the OP of that thread was having no luck with the rainforest place.

Aye I believe gigabyte were decent for RMA

MSI I had a great experience with too

If Asus RMAs are anything like trying to get customer support with laptops I'd deffo not bother
