YouTube Premium, Why Bother?

Then don't read it, plenty of the threads on here are boring but I don't let it bother me that much to go in there and post to tell them about it.
Snore. Incorrect boring advice is still incorrect.

YouTube Revanced for Android. Basically premium all the features for free.

Except it's not, is it? Do you understand that now?

No. It offers more features than premium actually, albeit things that people wouldn't really be interested in (like and dislike, zoom in as far as you want etc). I've just checked the latest version and you can download too.

Obviously the best solution for watching on TV is paying the £1. Not denying that. I am not in that demographic though, so revanced is a great solution for my needs, and many others.

As I said earlier, you do you. Horses for courses.

No, it doesn't. Fact. I've used Vanced for years and it doesn't offer everything that premium does. Also fact. The end.

What does premium offer than revanced doesn't? (Apart from TV stuff) I'm genuinely interested as if there are more things I might be interested in getting premium. But with what revanced offers at the moment, the main big things, I am happy.

Premium allows you to use any device anywhere in the world, log in and voila, all your stuff is there ready for viewing or download. And no, I'm not talking about casting, I mean actually logging in to any device - smart tellies, phones, laptops etc. Makes on difference. Vanced is good, make no mistake, but it's a faff that isn't worth a couple of quid a month.

Fair enough. Sounds good but not enough to warrant me getting it as I only use YouTube on my phone and computer. I can see why it will be a quality option for others though.

for adults what's the enjoyment (opportunity?) for watching videos on a phone, just use a add-free windows laptop, maybe connected/cast? to tv - spend the pound on spotify premium instead, for better quality.

As an adult, there are plenty of times where I watch YouTube on a phone, and I'm sure he same applies to many others. Whilst commuting is the immediate one that springs to mind.

I'm paying £11.99 for Premium and I need to cut this down. I did look at the VPN hack a few years ago but it was wanting to change my whole Google account to some India address which ain't happening as I use all sorts of Google services.

You don't, get a free vpn on your browser. Log in, and pay. Done, takes all of five minutes.

You can skip ads without the sub, just press the ? In the bottom left corner and press the option that this ad isn’t applicable (can’t remember exact words). Bit of a faff but well worth remembering when you get an advert for 30 seconds.

What I did was create a completely new FAMILY account in India and then shared that one out so my original google account remains exactly as it is with the benefit of Youtube premium.

A timely thread. I pay my £1.59 a month Google One (just for the 100GB photos/email limit) with the Android Google Rewards app. I may be selling my soul to big data, but at least there's a benefit to me as well.

This morning I noticed I have a 3 month YouTube Premium offer as part of that, and I started it... knowing I'll never pay £11.99 (I have a no subscription lifestyle and took a lot of persuading to sign up to the Google One thing!) However after four hours, I already find myself getting used to this brave new ad-free world. YT ads are so darned pervasive and annoying and designed to make you pay for Premium these days! I'm like Pavlov's Advert Dog, automatically hovering for the skip (or worse!) only to find I don't need to.

It is... unsettling, in a good way. I fear I may need to read this thread fully and consider my sneaky options in 3 months' time. I'm going to get used to this.

I use Ghostery & UBlock Origin on my PC to watch YT with no adverts as YT is my main nightly "TV" viewing, spending about 5-6hrs a night viewing dozens of various creator channels. However, when I decide to financially "reward" a creator whose content I enjoy, but can't reward through their blocked YT ads, I do it more directly with a monthly donation via Patreon and similar etc.

For my phone however I very rarely use the YT app because it is infested with adverts so I only use it if I'm specifically looking for something tech/work related whilst at work (can't use YT via works computer).

How is it even possible that this has turned into an argument. :D
Everything is an argument if you really want it to be, you are wrong:p

The YT premium allows download of music I noticed, also videos for anyone offline. Not sure thats anyone but in theory that could save quite a bit of data I guess if you download on a wifi and avoid using more expensive data or you are a cave diver maybe :D
