Seems Bahkmut got lit up in recent nights in the most horrific sense. White phos, as horrifically brutal as it is as a weapon, sure does look beautiful. The forbidden schermuly. Hopefully None of the Ukrainians got caught out in that!
This could be problematic for the west. During the desert wars the USA was quite big on deliberately using white phos as a weapon then claiming they were only using it to illuminate the area so it doesn't count at using a chemical weapon and any casualties were just collateral damage. It will be quite difficult for them to take Russia to task over it due to the hypocrisy and therefore it could be difficult for the west to take Russia to task for copying American tactics :(

*EDIT*

Actually nevermind, if they condemn Russia and Russia moan they do it too the USA can just play the whataboutism card xD

If you are using incendiery munitions in that fashion, there is no valid argument that either nation can argue to say it was for "illumination" purposes. I'm pretty certain both USA and Russia has illumination rounds (artillery and mortar) that are just large chuted flares effectively. They do a brilliant job of illuminating the ground below them minus the horrific chemical burns.

I thought it could be used against combatants, but using it in civilian areas is a war crime?

Just googled PAC-3 and landed on the Lockheed Martin site.

I love the way they have a page advertising these like you can just add a couple to your basket and check out :p

I used to buy the likes of Air International and Air Forces Monthly, and they used to have full page adverts for the likes of the Dassault Rafale and F-16 like car adverts, as though you could nip down to your local Dassault or Lockheed dealership and pick one up, as you would with a Seat Ibiza which Inalways found odd.

Doubt we have enough to spare. Surprised Rapier never appeared in Ukraine, they must be in a warehouse somewhere.

Considering all the hype around hyper sonic missiles, if the Patriot can be demonstrated to repeatably shot down these missiles, the threat of them may disappear.

The [realistic] threat of them is that if a bunch of them are launched by the time you've detected, got a track on them and figured out the target it is too late realistically to do much about them making a country wide defence against them problematic. On the contrary despite all the claims about them being ship killers, etc. it is another matter if you are the target - in theory even CIWS systems like Phalanx can shoot them down if you can make the assumption you are the target and have advanced enough systems to detect and track them.

Reading this

7 TU-22M3 aircraft in the air

Fairly reliable source, also masking on most of the strategic bomber channels - which they've rarely bothered with before.

EDIT: Voice traffic on several of their alternative frequencies but far too faint to make anything out - possibly marshalling from several air bases.

Claims of launches now.

EDIT2: Claims of multiple air bases active including SU-34, etc. spinning up as well as strategic bombers, using radio silence/masking to try and get the element of surprise. Not seen any confirmed information so far aside from the TU-22 take offs are from a reliable source.

Getting vibes of Kherson all over again. Ukraine hasnt even made any significant movements yet, at least not that we've been told about.

Signs of Russia preparing to leave Melitopol: -
passport office closed,
equipment moved out,
torn passports found.
mil personnel seen switching to civilian clothing,
discarded uniforms found in dumpsters.
Deadly surprises left: mines attached to trees, ready to cause harm.
Massive queues at Chongar & Kalanchak checkpoints on the way to Crimea.
Vehicles with special permits & military personnel bypassing the queues. Others already waiting for 5+ hours.
Reports suggest some trucks may carry stolen/looted goods from Ukraine
