Romanian Navy is fully deployed in the Black Sea - 3 Frigates at sea

Possibly heading for NATO exercises? though that seems an odd one as if they leave they can't currently return.

EDIT: Given some of the activity a few days back I wonder if some of the Russian naval assets are lurking close to Romanian waters to make it harder for Ukraine to try and attack them.

Removed the post - as above information is still pretty sketchy - Russian aviation is active but no one seems to be able to confirm what is airborne.

EDIT: Most reliable source I can find says strategic aviation departed from firing positions around an hour ago, weird time of day for it through but maybe they are trying to change it up to try and get past Ukraine's defences - previously their night time strikes have been around 4-6am.

People saying they aren't closing air space but a lot of traffic is routing further east than normal towards the Caspian, etc. I'd hazard there might still be stuff planned for tonight.

Not a solider here, but IIRC everyone has their own way of laying the stuff out, but it's always basically nothing blocks access to anything else, and what you need fastest/most commonly is easiest to get to, with an element of "can you get hold of it without putting your weapon down" etc.
Also secure enough that it won't fall out or rattle, but still easy enough to get out often one handed.

I remember being told knives are carried on the right as you can grab it with your left without releasing hold on your main weapon if someone grabs that.

It wasn't army who told me that, but I assume it's good advice.

Air defences still active over Kyiv - still drones in the air apparently.

Though the masking is still on doesn't seem to be any further strategic aviation activity so far.

I highly suspect it is BS but rumours doing the rounds that Kadyrov's forces have been sent in [tonight] to close the flanks at Bakhmut - I find it doubtful given their performances so far.

Continued reports of waves of Shahed drones targetting Kyiv.

US senate told:

"If Russia does not initiate a mandatory mass mobilization and secure substantial third-party ammunition supplies from Iran and others, it will be increasingly challenging for them to mount or sustain even minor offensive operations.

The reorganization that the Russian military took in the early 2000s meant that they were better, faster, smaller…compared to what they were in the Soviet era. But that army is gone and now they're relying on reserves and reserve equipment from the Soviet era."

I've mixed opinions on that - I agree with:

“If Russia does not initiate a mandatory mobilization and secure substantial third-party ammunition supplies beyond existing deliveries, from Iran and others, it will be increasingly challenging for them to sustain even modest offensive operations,”

And there are few army units not touched by the war now, but the depletion of the pre-war armed forces is not to that degree of exhaustion, though they won't be prepared to use what is left of it in Ukraine.

Their missile stocks for instance held up around 6 months after everyone was saying they were exhausted, same for their artillery stockpiles and so on, people are blinded by what they want to believe.

This guy is a fantasist, he's never actually been right with any of his stories

Didn't see the source - he was the one stirring up the whole nuclear things a few days back.

There are reports from others that maybe confirm Wagner is being blocked from leaving though.

Yeah he writes fascinating stories, but they're just that stories with no basis in truth, some of his early stories are pretty funny regarding the FSB
