Exactly this. Once you get used to doing it you don't notice it ( this is on my TV) although I'm considering premium for yt music and ditching prime music.You can skip ads without the sub, just press the ? In the bottom left corner and press the option that this ad isn’t applicable (can’t remember exact words). Bit of a faff but well worth remembering when you get an advert for 30 seconds.

The same for me.I mainly use YouTube and android and the main benefits are removing ads and being able to switch apps with it still playing in the background.
I refuse to pay for premium though, so tolerate the ads and lack of flexibility. Just means I use Spotify for music and podcasts which I already pay for as much as possible.
If you are a heavy youtube user though, definitely worth it to remove ads.
