Yeah of course Putin's intelligence services were stirring trouble in largely Russian speaking provinces in Eastern Ukraine, and US intelligence services were almost certainly doing in the same in the rest of Ukraine. There was essentially a war of influence being fought in Ukraine which the West won.

No it isn't. The majority of Ukrainians want to make their own way in the world and not live under Putin's boot. Its a very small % that actually want to live under Russian control. Ukraine isn't fighting to live under US control, they are fighting to live under their own control. You are just parroting Russian propaganda.

Complete and utter tosh.

This is a war being fought by Ukraine with (mostly) Western support against Russia. The Ukrainian people rose up against a corrupt, dishonest, and tyrannical (and, yes, democratically elected) leader in 2014; and Russia responded by annexing Crimea and invading the Donbas and Luhansk regions of Eastern Ukraine on the sly whilst falsely claiming that their actions were those of separatists. Ukraine has been fighting Russia ever since.

It is not a proxy war. This is not a battle between Ukrainian factions. This is a war between states.

So I watched a 9/11 documentary last night called 9/11: Inside the President's War Room and one thing Condoleezza Rice said was that during the attacks they brought the US military to it's highest state of readiness, they knew Russia would be aware of this and they didn't want to cause any tensions with Russia so she contacted Vladimir Putin and made him aware, Russia was running exercises at this time and he immediately told her that he was ending the exercises and obviously wanted to make it clear that Russia had nothing to do with the attacks. She said at that moment she knew that the Cold War had definitely ended. How times change. It's strange how we've got from the state of relations between the US and Russia in the early 2000's to what we have now.
Almost like they played us so that they could get away with invading peaceful countries.
There is a certain comedy to the fact that it isn't completely obvious if the reply is referencing Russia's invasion of Ukraine or team USA's invasion of Iraq xD

Relatively speaking it's a drop in the ocean compared to the value we get from them (low cost outsourcing etc). Until the entire economical model is rewritten, it isn't really a headline issue imo.
I dont want their outsourcing they can stick it up their ass.

Their outsourcing has cost the UK thousands of jobs

The latest has hit my area hard, Sky have just sent all the calls from the Sky HQ in Livinston to India

Along with all the other big company outsourcing call centers to Indis its cost the UK thousands of jobs.

We should be boycotting all the organisations who make their money in the UK but send the wages to India or similar.

100% agree, if I am called from an overseas call centre I simply state I am refusing to speak with them and if it's a pressing matter to write to me. Nor do i go through "security" nonsense with them.

By supporting them you are castrating a UK worker.

He thinks we're all in a race war and he welcomes it.

He's hilarious though, I used to get quite annoyed by his incessant "ehrmahgehrd immigrants" nonsense until I realised that he's just an old man slowly losing his mind and getting enveloped in whatever the Daily Mail puts in his head for the day. People who are so single-track about immigration tend to have mental issues, I think Chris is quite the poster child for this. Shame really, he used to be quite interesting to engage with. Hopefully he gets the medical attention he needs before it's too late.

What a terrible thing to insinuate :(

Mods, guide me to a safe space before I succumb to this hatred and mental health mockery.... <LOL>

At least any acceptance of such a post gives me, I trust, free rein to post something similarly puerile and offensive? ;)

Ukraine wasn't at peace during the invasion, there had been an ongoing conflict between the government and separatist forces since 2014, the government in Kyiv backed by the EU and NATO was fighting Russian backed separatists in Eastern Ukraine. Clearly relations broke down at some point.

You mean when Ukraine was no longer a puppet state of Russia? LOL.

Cash is still very prevalent in corruption, even in so called civilised western democracies, for eample the "suitcases full of cash" the European Union hierarchy are being investigated for receiving. cash can still very much be King. I am not sure how the EU are paying for their ex Russia oil....But paying for it they most certainly are.
No its not, suitcases full of cash are long gone, you simply cant spend cash anymore, anything over 5k without setting off a money laundering check

You cant bank it, even car dealerships cant take it so more spending big without an investigation

This at least are the UK and EU laws Of course at government level between two corrupt countries containers full of cash can change hands

Countries pay for oil using the swift banking system although now that Russia is banned from that then India will be paying in the new system that BRICS set up between them.

So no cash is no longer king as it leaves a money trail, I think Crypo is on a bit of a roll just now for dodgy dealings.

Unless the corruption ranking system is corrupt or corrupt people in the UK are much better at concealing their corruption;)
Of course in the UK its not corruption because its government contracts, doesn't matter that the contracts are given to family and friends they are still seen as legitimate contracts despite the average person knows its dodgy as fek.

I get what you're saying but Sky is bottom of the list to receive any sympathy from me. Vultures of the highest order.

Did you just call Feek dodgy?

Storm Shadows for Ukraine, that will get Putin frothing.
Where are they manufactured, is it Stevenage? I guess that will be a viable target now for Russia to launch a Kinzhal hypersonic missile attack, to remove production of the Storm Shadows out of the equation.

There is great footage going about with the late senator John McCaine saying how Putin saw the west weakness when they did nothing about Putin taking Crimea and building the bridge

The west did nothing in 2014, wouldn't help Ukraine despite them begging for help.

Putin saw it as weakness and after that McCaine said he would go after the east next, and sure enough he was right, all because the West refused to do anything about his obvious quest to reclaim Ukraine

This time however he got it wrong, we are helping and now he will be wishing he left it alone.

he has bitten off more than he can chew, sent all the other countries bordering Russia right into NATO's hands and destroyed the superpower status they once had with his complete failure to get the job done
