What exactly is being tolerated here? The guy was stopped and searched by armed police. He's an irritating scumbag, but he's committed no crime. The cops might get him on 'verbally abusing police' if they knew what he was saying in Russian, but that's about all.

This is just a lame and deliberate attempt at police provocation. It's been filmed—if not entirely orchestrated—by the minions of Simeon Boikov, who calls himself 'Aussie Cossack.' Boikov is a pro-Putin Russian-Australian YouTuber, slob, and public nuisance, currently hiding in Sydney's Russian consulate to evade an arrest warrant.

Interesting that Ben Wallace is playing down Storm Shadow "not in the same league as <insert Russian missile>" - unlike many of those Russian missiles Storm Shadow or the variants have a fairly decent track record for working and to a high degree of precision. Some of the listed Russian missiles which supposedly have a huge range advantage have never been fired beyond ~500 miles in the real world which is possibly the extent of their real range. But I guess by playing it down it makes it harder for the Russians to take exception to it.

SU-34 was just shot down as well

Russian air defense has suddenly become super aggressive like it was at the start of the war and its resulted in taking out friendly aircraft.

Russians shot down 2 of their own helicopters yesterday and so far today they've shot down 1 helicopter and 1 SU-34 jet

This is why their S-400 complexes, etc. tend to be inactive or only partially active a lot of the time :s and why civilian aircraft are routed like 200+ miles from them :s

EDIT: I see Russia is claiming they were shot down by resistance/"saboteurs" rather than friendly fire.

Gets criticised if it doesn't try hard enough and criticised if it tries too hard. Poor Russian air defence can't win!

So the S-400 has the “USS Vincennes” option fitted as standard?

Downplaying it just makes it sound like russian is weak/scared if you make a noise about it.. it also hints that’s the old kit and if that hurt, then worry about future and range.

Given the Russian reaction to this missile no wonder he is trying to play it down a bit, if reports are to be believed they have shot down up to 5 of their own aircraft/helicopters due to the shock of Storm shadows sudden arrival (and the day is not over yet)

I don't think anyone expected such an alarmed response from the Russians when they suddenly found a lot of their assets at risk in the Ukraine territories.

It is amazing how much damage has been sustained by the Russian armed force without NATO firing a shot - if someone was to suggest such a thing even a couple of years ago they'd get looked at funny.

You can't put a value on human life however I would be fascinated to know the sheer total cost of all destroyed equipment...

What is starting to concern me is what happens once all this is over. Russia could descend in to civil war with places like Chechnya breaking away and a struggle for power erupting between the establishment and new people such as the boss of Wagner.
That could get messy real fast and would produce a humanitarian crisis of significant magnitude.

Aside from the humanitarian crisis, I would consider that the best case scenario.

That's because they haven't started using their best equipment yet.

Oh wait... :D

Why do you think that'll happen? Most people in Russia support Putin, some want the war to end but there isn't some massive rebellion against him, that isn't even close to how people feel. People in the UK are more divided over Brexit than people in Russia are over the war.

Germany has announced a new 2.7 billion Euro package for Ukraine

Included is:

* 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles
* 30 Leopard 1 tanks
* 18 PzH 2000 self propelled howitzers
* 4 IRIS-T anti air batteries, along with hundreds of missiles
* 200 reconnaissance drones
* 200 logistics and support vehicles
This is impressive. :)
