That’s the issue, even if Ukraine remove Russia from within their border. Russia will continue to terrorise Ukraine by launching missiles from within its own borders. It will be an absolute mess.

Sanctions need to be far stronger and need to affect those countries benefitting from Russia’s weakness like India /Pakistan. The screw needs to be tightened.
Cant see that happening without the gloves coming off

Right now NATO wont let Ukraine use their weapons on Russian soil.

If what you day happens then NATO will not stop them stopping Russia launch attacks, that means hitting Russians where they are firing from.

With the flanks slowly collapsing every day getting out of Bakhmut may be a big brain move.

Makes you wonder what Russias next move is in that area. Try and hold Bakhmut and just get endlessly pounded by artillery? There's no rush for Ukraine to push into the area. Or maybe try and push on? But they're losing ground on the flanks.

Makes you wonder whether this was the plan. Make them bleed for every inch and once they have it, encircle them and then punish them from afar.

What have they won exactly. The place is flattened and there’s nowhere to hide.

So how are Ukraine going to get their new F16s into the air? It's been known for ages that they don't have suitable runways hence why the west was pushing for Grippens instead.

There's no way that they can extend/resurface runways without Russia bombing the crap out of them (only takes one hit to make them unusable).

So that leaves NATO supplied planes flying sorties from NATO countries, probably Finland / Poland, sure the usual lot in here think that escalation is great though.
It's war time, it's not like a new runways for fighter jets will need to go through a planning application, appeals, judicial reviews, questions asked in Parliament. I wouldn't worry about Russia bombing them either, if they could they would do already and even if they could repairs don't take long if you have the materials and manpower nearby.

Air defence is indeed key. Now the protective measures are in place they can focus on preparing for runways, logistics. If the Russians are loosing bombers and rockets without success then f16 launch sites shouldn't be as much of a concern.

Place the first one runways near the border with NATO.. when putin trys to hit them and misses with the missles flying into NATO.. it opens the opportunities..

Yeah they've pinned a lot of Russian forces in place and bled them building by building. Not really sure what happens now though with Wagner being potentially withdrawn and no real objective left. Russian forces can't really occupy and defend Bakhmut without incurring great cost, so I assume they'll try to push on but the flanks collapsing isn't really a good sign they've got much to give to step up the offensive operation and Ukraine is dug in.

That is the other thing - while not crucial the location is important for the way Russia does logistics but in its current state and on the frontline it isn't suitable for that use.

You're keen for NATO to go to war with Russia then, I'll assume you'll be at home?
It that a reference to keyboard warrior?
I’m sure putin gives a damn about what you think too.

I suspect putin will attempt to purge the duma once russia’s gains disappear and crimea is taken (although i suspect crimea will be a target for an ongoing conflict for years to come).

Now Bakhmut has the same living quality as Russian villages and towns
