Plucky move, you have to hand it to them.

Will certainly be a wake up call if the UAF (or in this case the FRL on behalf of the UAF) can just waltz into Russian territory.
Doubt the UAF has much to do with it besides looking the other way as trying to control the actions of foreign partisans is a pointless venture.

Clearly the +100 IQ move for Putin is to nuke Belgorod, he gives 0 f's about his people and he seems to love remodeling cities and villages.....

On a more serious note this activity in Belgorod is a great distraction even if its not Ukraine officially doing it.

It is a very tricky dynamic but a relatively small number of people can tie up a significant amount of Russian resources doing something like this.

Also it's not like they can fortify such a long front-line effectively, there will be weak points, and once you soften up an area and punch through, you're just behind the defences and they become even less relevant.

Only remotely useful if there are enough soldiers to defend it. The front line is huge and Russia has nowhere near enough soldiers to cover all of it.

How many soldiers does Russia have in Ukraine do you think? Given they mobilised 300,000, and presumably also had most of their army there, there must be 500,000 men in Ukraine.

Rubbish, if they put a couple of construction yards close by and use them to build some barracks, they can churn out hundreds of rifle infantry in a few minutes. A few rocket soldiers and some medics to create an even group and they'll be unstoppable. Will need power though, can't beat an advanced power station for that.

600 mile front line plus along the coast of crimea

I bet even 500 active per mile would be way overstating the effective lines and with precision weaponry now I am pretty dubious how effective these WW1 strategy front lines will be.

The losses were massive but the WW2 beach landings were significantly harder than breaching these will be for Ukraine. And yet soldiers running up beaches into heavily fortified lines still manged to get through.

It only takes a mile wide breach or so and once the arty that can bear down on it is cleared sections of the defences will be more a hindrance than a benefit to Russia.
But then they seem to care little for their troops.

I am not sure we will see thunder runs as such but enough momentum that Russia will be unable to really mount a decent defence. Lets face it we have seen over and over that their tactics are basically modern equipment versions of WW1.
