Final Fantasy 16

Lmao western reviewer gave the game a low score because he said it's racist.

The game is set in medieval Europe and the Japanese developers decided to be historically accurate, and the reviewer didn't like that and wanted black people in the game

Are there any worthy game review sites these days ? So much agenda, very little useful commentary.

Performance is still a bit of a mess. The camera snap is still there but a lot better (wish they would just give the option to remove this).

Neither of these things are a big enough deal to ruin the game for me though. :)

Still, no motion blur toggle and the dynamic res can be a bit aggressive and give people clay faces :( Prefer 30 mode over 60 now, which was the opposite of the demo.

About 3 hours in and still a bit fuzzy on the story, did you have to play any of the previous ones to understand what dominants and eikons are, the world backstory?

FF games are usually standalone affairs.

Surprised that people are willing to tolerate sub-60fps for full price at this res but maybe I'm just too sensitive to framerate dips. Hopefully, they'll iron those out at some point.

No it's an independent universe/narrative. Just stick with it, it'll all become obvious. It's a final fantasy though so they can draw things out. That said it's quite similar to older instalments summoners and summons/aeons/guardian forces/espers/etc. (depending on the game) in a way but more monarchy/bloodline themed going by what was in the demo (haven't picked up the full game yet).

If you press down on the touch pad during cinematics you can read about the different factions / people / lore etc.

Hearing great things about this feature, so obvious but useful.

Just waiting for my £15 voucher promotion to come through from Amazon and should be able to pick it up physically for £45.

Just waiting to finish work at 3. Then straight home to fire it up ! Gonna juggle this, Zelda and d4. :) should keep me going til the next large release.

Edit. Playing on performance and the game so far runs fantastic.

ralph ineson is just a fantastic voice actor ! Was great in D4 too !

I switched to quality. Takes a while to get used to 30fps but I prefer it over the constant stutters.

I'm enjoying it so far although it hasn't completely hooked me yet. The story telling (so far) and scene changes etc are nowhere near as slick as the FFVII remake but the combat is more engaging.

Really struggling with the timing on the 8 hit combo. I can cast fire consistently after the first and last hit but that's it.

I am enjoying the story a lot.

The combat not so much. Cant seem to time the dodge or parry more than once in 3 or 4 attempts.

Think this game could have been elevated to a higher level by keeping more of the RPG elements. If they still had the diffrent slots on equipment for the spells etc that would have been far more satisfying than just picking a skill and finding endless potions in the world and not a lot else.

This is my potential gripe with it; Seems to have turned in to a button masher with limited spells / item weapon progressions etc. Think I'll refocus my attentions to Diablo IV when that drops to 40 kingheads.

Didn't notice any real stuttering with the demo in graphics mode but finding it really hard going in either graphic mode with the low framerate/stutter. Feels like a slide show outside of combat.

Loving it. Story so far etc. :D fantastic.
Same. Installed it this evening and played just beyond what I imagine the demo showcased ( I elected not to play that to avoid spoilers etc ). Really enjoying the mature story ... quite amusing seeing a mainline FF game drop f-bombs every 5 mins ! Combat is fast and fun, same with boss fights. It is very linear thus far, but after lots of open world games it's refreshing to play a more focused game. Not having any issues playing in graphics mode at 30 fps - frame rate is stable and the motion blur seems to do a good job of approximating rapid action and giving a cinematic feel. Performance mode on the other hand is a mixed bag with lower resolution and frame rates that vary from 60 fps in combat to less than that in non-combat segments. I'll stick with graphics mode for the higher fidelity and constant frame rate.

Having a blast playing this game, I'm in performance mode and not had any issues. My wife was staying at her friend's for a girly night last night so I dropped her off at mid day and ended up playing until 1am (with some breaks). I'm now at level 23 but making sure to do all of the side quests. Accessories wise I'm using the one which controls the dog moves and two others which improve the damage of fire cyclone and the wind claws.

This is probably going to be my game of the year (although ac6 is looking good!)

Pleased everyone is enjoying it!

You do realise playing the game will also spoil it for you? :p
No **** sherlock ! I just didn't want to play the demo, have a hiatus, then pick up the game again at release. My preference was to go in without any prior exposure to reviews/demos/opinion pieces.
