I've never built a custom loop, know nothing please help

30 posts a day you say?

You guys are gonna get bored seeing me pop up for the next month lol

Thanks brother for the info
It seems a lot
But there's so many sections in the forums
Not just computing ones
That it's actually not that hard to do
The other requirement unless that's also altered
Was be a forum member 6 months
That's the longer part and you've already done it

It's actually quite a vast forum to be fair, almost harks back to the glory days if forums

With the demise of twitter, I'd say sticking around shouldn't be a massive issue to hit the 1k and as you say 6 months has long since past

Whatever it is. Don't waste your money on EK, all blocks now days are within 1-2’c of each other so you are paying for the name most of the time they are the ASUS of the water cooling world imo.

Best advice - Research your blocks, use the manufactures sites to check compatibility and take your time.

Oh and always always order more tubing than you think you will need. Twice ive made thst mistake now!

I prefer soft tubing, clear coolant and hate RGB so my loop isnt as flashy as some here. But its functional And i get great temps

I haven't managed it and I've been here for over a decade. Just too much of a lurker

So I've got a AIO liquid cooler from cool master.

But now Ivr managed to upgrade to a 4090 and a "the case 500" I'd like to get into proper liquid cooling, especially with the very cool colours of some of the liquid (assuming it's not just light lol)

So for a 5800x3d and 4090 what is a full list of parts I'd need and what's the cost... Gulp...
What 4090 do you have ? Worth checking to see if there is a compatible block for it.

Yeah surprising how many people
Buy a gpu before actually checking if there's
A block available for it

Still don't know what case the op has
Other than its not a tractor
So no idea of radiator support
If we haven't already scared them off from
Custom watercooling

Thanks guys really insightful.

So, by the soujds it's something I might not do, but the question is, considering we are looking st almost 4 figures vs a couple of hundred of a AIO for my cpu, what's the point? Does it offer massively reduced heat? Or is it just the "cool" factor? I'll be honest, I have no issues with Temps, and am only considering it for the coolness factor, but are there benefits.

And if there isn't a huge benefit, am I better to get the best in class cpu cooler? Or again are the benefits over my average cool master one just deminishing?

Thanks

As Mcnumpty has said, back in the day as well we overclocked a lot and we could get nowhere near the thermal performance we needed on stock coolers. AIO's weren't really even a thing back then so the options were either exotic or air coolers.

Nowadays people do it more for aesthetics than anything else. Yes it does help keep things cooler too but it's nothing a good aircooler can't do now, plus cpu's and gpu's come pretty much overclocked and at their limit from factory so there's very little to be had in performance when overclocking.

Yeah the days of
Overclocking a 2600k from 3.4ghz
To over 5ghz for a 50% increase
Are long gone
There's still some performance can be gained
In multi core Though single core not much at all
Got my 5950x multicore at 4.4ghz from around 3.85ghz
But single core speeds
As jay85 said are pretty near the edge from the factory

The lower temps help for using increased voltage and allow for higher clockspeeds. The heat output will be the same at stock or higher if overclocking.
With water cooling the heat is removed from the case in shorter time.

But do you have access to MM?
From once upon a time
When the requirements were lower?
Nope :(. I have no idea what the rules were when I joined or when they changed, but I've never inherited MM access. Maybe in another few years I'll make it to 1k posts and finally reach the holy land. Until then, I'll hoard all my old crap or try to flog it on gumtree!

Really have no idea
How it works for long term members
Have definitely seen some in MM
With only couple hundred posts
But no clue when it changed
Was be a member 6 months and have 1k posts
When I joined
You're not all that far away from 1k posts though
Definitely worth getting into MM not just for selling stuff
If you need something in particular
The wanted section is very useful
