Vanquis Direct Debit - 'ON HOLD?'

0 posts, how is that even possible?

Contacted Vanquis today and they said 'the direct debit payment is on hold and should be available around 28/29th July'

I said 'why exactly is my direct debit payment on hold?' she said 'they dont know , its a system thing which does it at random'.

Humans program systems. Systems do not have a mind of their own and just go off on a random tangent. Clearly you are not telling me the reasoning as to why the direct debit payment is on hold.

Payment was taken/debited around 12/13th July and now you are telling me I have to wait a whole 15 days before I can use my credit card again.

Vanquis really a a slow joke credit card company.

(update: they said today - 18th july 2023, it was because I had an interest charge on my account which pushed it past my credit limit and because I had a hefty direct debit re-payment back onto the card to clear it, they wanted to give it 7 days to process/clear......?!)

I still find this strange.... She said 'everything should be fine tomorrow (19th July).

This started 12th July. Never have I ever had to wait so many days for my payment to be available again on my credit card.
The original person you talked to was quite possibly not able to see all the information, or didn't know about some stuff.

A lot of call centre staff don't know the intricacies of the systems they use, and a lot of the systems front line staff use don't show full details, typically it'll be the "second line" or more experienced staff who'll know more either because they can directly see it (via a more advanced menu/display), or because they've been around long enough to have had that issue come up before and remember what caused it.

First actual response - Thanks

I still have not got access to my funds , I have called vanquis literally every single day and they keep telling me different things.... coincidentally.

They said 'because I have by cheque, it can take up to 7-10 to clear' I said I never paid by cheque it was direct debit.... (where have you got cheque from?)

Every different advisor have said 'funds will be available the next day. The next day comes and goes and the funds still are not available

I am pretty sure vanquis and other credit cards want you to sign up to make repayments by direct debit, yet here I am waiting in excess of 2 full weeks for my funds to be made available again....

Low and behold and miraculously , the credit was made available on the date the person advised me on last week (they said around 27/28th July), but when I was calling them everyday to see if there were any variances in what the advisors were telling me, the advisors kept saying 'it would be available tomorrow'. That tomorrow would come by and it was still not showing available.

On the 26th when I called up (the final call) a woman, I believe took a deep dive and then came back to me and said 'because it was overdrawn a lot and the payment received was quite large, we have to wait for it to clear'.

She then said 'Ive been advised that they said it will be available tomorrow (27th July)'... To which it was when I checked it randomly at around 4am on 27th July

A whole 14/15 days later....

Utter, utter ridiculous

I actually want compensation on this, because this was very stressful for me having to completely juggle things around and ask people, since as my large transfer which was paid by direct debit was just in 'limbo' mode and I couldnt spend it on my credit card.

I have filed complaint with them over the phone and I also did a resolver complaint - Either way they said they will be 'looking into it'.

Cannot wait for the fobbing off and excuses they will be giving me.

I'm glad that you now have access to your funds. I assume you will be buying the following:

Gucci belt
Corner sofa
Boxing lessons (to work on your boxing stance for the upcoming legal battle).
