Summer Transfer Window 23/24

How are Chelsea able to do this? Bonkers.

In a nut shell their accounts are brilliant. They make a huge amount on youth sales. Mount was basically pure profit. Which his book value in the transfer market is massive.

They are no longer allowed to spread the transfers over 8 years, it’s now capped at 5.

Should listen to the latest Tifo pod i mentioned a couple of days ago, explains everything from financial POV, really interesting.

Yeah I can’t imagine they’re in that much of a deficit with sales. They have tonnes of youth players and players out on loan, most of which will be pure profit if they manage to sell on.

Gnonto has made himself unavailable for tomorrows game, like he did for the midweek game. What a ****. All because of a move to Everton

Chelsea have a net spend of around £430m for transfers from 22/23 and that figure doesn’t include Lavia or Caicedo fees, they also have a large wage bill and no European football and small stadium.

I listened to the Chelsea bit (starts around 43 mins) he doesnt explain how they will pass the FFP limit of 105mil for the PL. Have i missed something?

To be honest now that you ask I’m questioning myself , I can’t actually remember there was that much information but I’m sure with the selling of Mount, Havertz, Kovacic, Koulibaly etc they have an effective >£200m window on the books today that they can spread out.

Losses are spread over the 3 years - losses from Covid don’t count - last years spend is spread over 8 years so around -75ish on this years accounts with 200 spent this summer spread over 5 years thats between 40-50 as they changed the rules.

So affectively they’re 50 in the green for this transfer window alone on the face of it. 250 in, 200 out, but with the arrivals spread over 4/5 years and the sales being on the book instantly they’ve still got room to to play. So even without any fancy accounting they’re still in profit this summer.

Then you look at stuff like Mount having had a value of 0 on the books means they’re able to spend big.

They’ve still got to get rid of lukaku though.

Seems a bit surreal Kane could be playing in a Bayern Shirt today.

After all the drama if pool get Lavia would you guys be happy?
Would prefer Caicedo, but Lavia could match Caicedo eventually, he's just a bit raw. Clearly Liverpool don't rate Lavia that highly as if we have the money for Caicedo but have been penny pinching over a few million is shows we don't value him as high as that.

hold up!

Wait a minute !

Something not right here!

I’m struggling to keep up and need to sit down. So Chelsea are closing in on both Lavia and the boy from Brighton? That teach me to fall asleep during the City game!!

Yup however supposedly this morning Chelsea added just players to there offer and Brighton said no.

From our perspective it’s alleged Hogan was handling it on our side.

Tbh it’s all he said she said. If it’s true he only wants Chelsea then that’s where he will end up

The way I see it is Chelsea don’t want to match Liverpools offer for Caicedo so went in for Lavia to try and make Liverpool retract the bid so they could then come in lower. Will be interesting to see how this ends but so far I believe Chelsea still haven’t submitted a bid for Caicedo.

Meh move on. Player clearly wants the Chelsea move if he’s stalled his medical. Go back in for Turham or Kone or both.

Newcastle after one more player by what Eddie was saying which I think is a RCB. I believe a number of clubs will turn their attention to CB’s in the last sprint towards the finish line. Brilliant window so far with a lot of clubs coming close to perfect windows.

My personal to pick would be Silva then Tapsoba. There’s quite a few available that could do really well in the PL it’s just going to come about the terms of the deal. Silva probably doesn’t happen due to cost.

IMO, Caicedo will stay at Brighton now and Chelsea will get Lavia instead. What Liverpool do from here I dont know. Hopefully they have a plan C but frankly I wouldnt be surprised if they just wait until the January transfer window now and make do with putting a bandaid on the DM position until then.

That will just anger many I suspect we can’t keep putting bandaids on positions.

Jones isn’t and never will be a 6, if we stay with squad as is it’s about 2 injuries in midfield from being ruined and putting too much pressure on the younger players
