Everybody - here and elsewhere - said he'd signed his own death warrant when he aborted his march on Moscow.

He clearly wasn't the sharpest tool in the box, starting something that was always going to get him killed, and then not seeing it through.

What a moron, frankly.

It was only a matter of time, and whether he'd fall victim to a malfunctioning window or some disagreeable herbal tea.
 
While I'd still put my money on Putin giving the order, there's always the chance that he had nothing to do with it. Shoigu and Gerasimov both have the motive and the means to shoot Prigozhin out of the sky. There would be personal fallout from doing it, sure. But that doesn't make it impossible.

I'd wager that the pair of them would be quite happy to see the end of Wagner too, so no major worries re: the threat of retaliation.

I haven't seen any film with a missile hitting the plane but:

* I've seen video showing the plane falling, with one of its wings missing and a huge ball of fire at the back of the plane burning

* Locals report hearing an explosion before seeing the plane

* There is two distinct smoke trails in the videos, one from the plane and another from the side heading to the planes direction

* Locals on the scene took photos of the wreckage and the remaining wing and other panels from the planes exterior is covered in small holes, typically for anti air missile sharpnel

* Pro Wagner telegram accounts claim it was shot down by S-300/S-400

I thought Prigozhin must have had something on Putin when he was still alive a few days later.
 
Imagine killing the Wagner leader the only one that done anything decent for him with battlefield results.

So are Wagner going to attack Moscow now plot twist?
