I mean, I wouldn't call quantity over quality superior, but I get the point.

The difference in quality is really not that much, Ukraine has had some Western training but they're largely still employing Soviet era tactics. We're currently watching two armies reenact World War 1 with modern day weapons. It's brutal.

The really really bizarre thing about the whole "plan" if you could even call it that. Is that Russia didn't even devise a new tactical plan for there invasion of Ukraine, they just copy and pasted one of the USSR's plans for the invasion of West Germany and hoped that would work

That is basically Russia for you.

The only way we could reduce the losses is if we did the fighting for them. Like I said weeks ago, the Russians are dug in heavily, Ukraine can sustain losses for the rest of the Summer/Autumn, but after Winter time they'll be fighting a refreshed Russian army. Russia is just going to grind this out with it's superior manpower and resources.

There are realistic challenges with logistics, maintenance and training but this is where Ukraine needs to be able to employ sophistication to counter Russia's ability to grind out the war of attrition, that means the West needs to massively step up ammunition supplies of critical munitions, get them the mobile anti-air capable of dealing with layered threats from drones, helis through to advanced jets in numbers, larger numbers of advanced mobile artillery, and so on.

The innovations like the Supacat based ASRAAMs need to keep coming thick and fast and at scale where even at company level Ukraine has them. Assuming it works like on paper I have to hand it to whoever was involved in that development, that is exactly the kind of approach Ukraine needs and the kind of thing which once made this country (the UK) so great.

I think it will be interesting when Ukraine starts knocking on Crimea door with the current trajectory I wouldn't say it's impossible to happen within a year from now.

Looks like a fairly extensive attack on targets in Russia tonight by UAVs though not in huge numbers. Also inbound Russian miles on targets in Ukraine.

The Ukranians should sail a ferry into the bridge laden with explosives, sink it, then detonate it a day later. The Russians would probably think it was part of their own defences until it was too late.

EDIT: I actually think the Ukranians didn't expect to be able to attack it by sea a second time. Each time they attack it is with a different method. First it was a truck bomb. Second it was a sea drone. Third it was missiles. Each time it was a different method. Will the fourth time be via F16's standing off long range and launching something?
The HMS Cambletown method would work nicely.
