*** The official late 2020 Mac mini thread (it has the M1 chip and everything!) ***

I use my old 2017 iMac in my office to rdp into my work laptop with a Asus 28" 4K display as a second monitor.

Seriously considering picking up a second hand M1 Mac mini and another Asus display to replace it.

Seriously considering picking up a second hand M1 Mac mini

I have just picked up a second hand M1 Mac mini to use as a headless box. I shouldn't have been so excited about an over four year old computer being delivered but I really was, I was like a giddy child as I opened the box earlier today.

I remember how the performance jump from Intel to Apple Silicon blew us all out of the water and this base M1 mini is no slouch, even by todays standards.

Getting a new computer of any type is always exciting :D.

I once dug out one of those Netbooks from like 2005 and put Windows 7 on it.

It took about 4hrs to install lol but it worked! Then I never actually used it because everything takes so long.
I had one of those when I went travelling around SE Asia. I put Linux on it and it wasn't that bad.

I bought it before the days of iPad and my MBP. I took it to HK too and was my way to get online. It did the job for a couple of years but it couldn't do any multi tasking at all.

:D

@Throrik When I looked back through this thread, you said you'd ordered the 16Gb version ;)
(I'm not complaining)

Over the years I've had some excellent PC builds but nothing I've ever bought has been as good as easy to use as my M1 Mac mini. Other than my own stupidity wasting money I bet I could easily get another 3 years out of it. It never slows down with my use.

That's my Mac :D :)

So, looking back at the invoices, I ordered the one you have on 24.06.2021 - so it's even younger than expected. I bought the 16GB version on release, used it and sent it back 11 or so days later. Then bought an iMac, which I also sent back. I basically went full LiE apart from selling it to people on the MM I sent it back to Apple.
