Doesn't surprise me - I live around farms, not entirely uncommon for people moving into the area to try and complain about noise or smell. Sadly they increasingly get taken seriously rather than the slap around the head they deserve.

My mum does this. She was desperate to move to a very rural setting, which she did, yet now she complains about farm noise/tractors.

I don't really know what to say to her.

Taking nimby to 11

We are training foreign troops so they can defend their lands

NIMBY, yeah but I can hear noises!
Maybe we could send them to Ukraine for some sightseeing, see if they like having Putrid randomly sending missiles over their heads. I heard rumours thay made a bit of a bang and there was a little smoke when things caught on fire.

They are right, US foreign policy should be carried out by the US government using their own property, expecting a private company to assist in killing soldiers of a foreign nation is absurd.

You know he's signed a deal with the Pentagon and the US and her allies will use them for exactly that if they want to. You think Elon will have his finger on the switch telling the Pentagon what they can and can't do in the field?

Elon is clearly well down the god complex road. Thinks he can involve himself in foreign policy, talking to Putin etc. He should know his place and keep his nose out of things that should only concern elected officials and government employees.

Found it.

Ta very much. Interesting quote:

It’s murder — I hate living here but the trouble is we rent,” he said.
I'd have thought that's the better of the two situations to be in. Of course he's probably just bad at expressing himself. Or his mind, if he's not recently given birth.

I saw this posted on Reddit earlier, someone quoted a paragraph from the article:

Alan Smart, 63, who lives next to the firing range, called for the 150-year-old military base to be shut down. “I say close it. The explosions are very noisy indeed. They make the windows rattle. It’s murder — I hate living here but the trouble is we rent,” he said.

Alan not so Smart

Yeah, that's for Starshield, not Starlink. The US military can use Starshield for whatever they like, it's controlled by them and paid for by them. I'm not sure why the US government would expect a private company to let a foreign military use it's infrastructure for military purposes based on their foreign policy? How is US foreign policy relevant to Starlink? I could understand if the US had declared war on Russia and wanted to take control of the satellites for their own use due to legitimate national security needs, but expecting a foreign military to be able to do that? It's stupid and doesn't hold up to basic scrutiny. A lot of chips on shoulders about Musk though as we know, trying to pretend it's anything other than because of his personal political views.

Literally... don't live next to a firing range.

Next... trains in major cities must go as commuters say they are too noisy and can't record their tiktoks.

Edit: I live in the flight path for philly airport. I don't complain about the low flying aircraft and noise.
