Road Cycling

its in Esher actually ;)

https://maps.app.goo.gl/CjGgGW4UXiYZZdfn9

thought that all cyclists heard of Giro ;)

Given my wifes employer is based on Esher high street, maybe i should've gone when we were down!

Have just realised i keep making plans to pick up my bike from my parents and yet have no idea where the Sram battery charger is, and the bikes been sat for months. Who's great idea was an electronic groupset!

it's a nice cafe, and decent food as well

highly recommend

Take a picture to remind me what it looks like? As said, I thought mine wasn't going to fit but used some brute force and ignorance and clamped it in there. Was worth doing as the standard saddle caused quite a bit of numbness.
Sorry its a few days late.

This is the Tacx seat as it is.

And this is the same saddle (as the one that wont it) on my Trek Madone which fitted no bother. There's a Trek shop on my local High st so may call in there this weekend and see if they can sell me the clamps and bolt although may not quite sit in the Neo and in which case I'll just brute force it as suggested and hope I don't break it!

Triton cycles are really good for random madone parts. It’s where I get most of my spares.

Am I misreading this. You have put a 7x9mm saddle on a madone which doesn't take a 7x9mm rail and you are trying to do the same on your static bike...which doesn't take a 7x9mm rail saddle :p

It looks like the madone kind of works because the clamp is a little rounder and less "enveloping". I'm not sure that will work on the static bike though.

What about with the new seat on the tacx clamp? I recall it was only a mm or so. Enough to make me decide to use some brute force but my new one wasn't carbon.

I know we have riders in here who get close passed a lot. Any thoughts on this - https://passpixi.com/shop/ols/products/passpixi-evo

Someone who rides with us wears one and says it's reduced the general harassment he gets.

More and more I am convinced that drivers are getting worse and the only thing that makes them behave is the thought that their ****** driving will lead to some punishment. I am getting close to the point of buying a camera for my bike because almost every ride I have someone doing something really stupid.

I can tell you a camera is not preventative. Battery life is also challenging.

Yeah I know it won't stop people driving like pricks but if some people start getting fines and points when they put cyclists lives at risk they might start being a little more careful around us for fear of losing their licence. They won't do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

It's also really hard not to swear when people doing things which are really stupid and put you in danger. I'd share a couple of clips but I'd just get banned from here. :o

I must have sworn at about 5 "cyclists" over a 5 miles stretch (Manchester - Parrs-Wood - Wilmslow Road - Curry Miles - Oxford Road) yesterday, it's the deliveroo riders, they jump red lights, they pass by so close they're skimming you, they're on illegal dangerous "E-BSO", and they're Pi***** about, they fly past then suddenly start going slow so you end up overtaking, or running red lights sharp left and getting in your way, I get way too angry on the roads at the moment, more delivery "cyclists" and pedestrians than cars.

Think it's just the lack of patience every one has, avoided quite a big one this morning on a busy 2 lane roundabout which i think is NSL, when someone decided they could go across, I thought I'd made eye contact, but obviously not as they drove straight out in front of me veering at the last second as they spotted my bright yellow long sleeve jersey, front light and bright orange bar tape. missed me by less than 10cm in the end I'd hazard a guess.

I had to come to a complete stop which isn't the most fun on a roundabout of that size to get going again.

ok...any smart people around here ?
I feel brain dead and can't make anything up for the follwing - maybe am overthinking..
so my currrent s6 is set after bike fit...
am after new bike , but cant make up in my head which size...
thought i will paste below stack and reach numbers for bikes and their sizes...and screen grab of all info..

maybe someone on here will be able to help and make sense ..thanks!

frame stack and reach is only one part of the equation, a good starting point though. the L vitesse with a 10mm shorter stem would be the most obviously closest to your S6 with all else being equal.

all else includes...
- the number of spacers (adding spacers increases stack while slightly shortening the effective reach)
- stem length
- stem angle - a more sharply sloped stem is both lower in effective stack and slightly shorter in effective reach
- handlebar reach (there can be huge variations here, so unless two bikes use exactly the same handlebar then it needs calculating for - a Deda RHM has 75mm reach while a bontrager xxx aero is 93mm. 18mm, that's near twice the difference in reach between your S6 and the size L Vitesse)

allowing for all of that, adding 7mm of spacers to the M venon (above the spacer stack you use on the S6) would increase the stack to match your S6 while slightly shortening the reach. You could then plop the same stem and bar onto it and it should feel very similar...

it's all relatively small amounts of tweak between any of them, although a stem much shorter than 100mm on a bike that size is going to look silly and probably feel quite twitchy

Canyon quote Stack+ and reach+ numbers, these are in relation to the handlebar tops rather than the top of the headtube. Much more useful in the real world, although they still dont allow for bar reach.

Thanks a lot
Daily I'm on my gravel which stack is 10mm and I find it quite comfy and so much more stretched...
On s6 I do have number of spacers.. so stack is much higher and reach will be shorter..that's the bit gets me confused as not sure which numbers on the fit pić correspond to all that...

Don't want new bike to have so many spacers ;)

582 is the stack of the frame according to the diagram, the 75 above it is the difference between the frame stack and the centre-of-bar-tops stack. this puts the centre of the bars at 657.

The effective reach (to the centre of the bar tops) is listed at 462 (the long arrow from the red bb centre line to the bar centre.

if you have a plumb bob and a willing helper it's fairly easy to get these numbers off the gravel bike too.

unfortunately the fit chart doesnt seem to show the reach of the handlebars, but you may be able to find this by looking for the make/model on the internet.

if you want to get the same fit with fewer spacers, the frame needs to be slightly taller in stack and slightly shorter in reach to put the stem in the same place - VERY approximate but on a 73 degree head angle (common), 10mm of spacers added shortens reach by ~3mm

if you want a slightly more stretched fit with fewer spacers, the frame needs to be slightly taller in stack as before but the reach is a tougher question, depends exactly how much longer you want it. I'd try and get the numbers off the gravel bike, and if you fancy a cheap way of trying a different fit, pick up cheap used stems 10 or so mm longer than your current one.
