I am considering replacing my 530d for something even bigger with more rear space. The obvious candidates are 7 Series, S Class and A8, but are there any other cars I should consider?

I am going to do a couple of road trips next year with 3 mates, the shortest of who is me at 6 foot and the next shortest.....6ft 5". We did one this year to Normandy and it was EPIC and we plan more and as someone who will want to drive this is making me consider other options. I don't think I want an A8, the interior isn't that nice (subjective) and I prefer the 7 Series and S Class I think, so welcome views on what are the must have options as I am not up to speed with either really.

Not really into big people carrier type cars, but open minded and with JLR 4x4 falling through the floor maybe a 6 month old RR for £20K is appealing. I like the appeal of a LW car frankly and I can use this as a daily car too.

This is a difficult budget I think - both of these cars have recently been replaced meaning £50k won't buy a current car but will instead buy one of the newest of the previous car. Which you could argue is the same as a £20k one...

LWB Jag XJ.

A purely subjective thing but personally I find vehicles like that a bit weird - one of my brothers and a cousin tend to gravitate towards cars of this ilk - it is as long as my pickup and if I was driving something with that length I'd want to also take advantage of the height possibilities.

Fair point, but there were some S Class updates I think around 2017-18 that make that a better version of previous generation. I don't want to spend more to get a current model, I am open to spending a lot less and getting a good previous one for both 7 and S class.

On S Class I want panoramic roof and would like executive rear seats too if possible. S350L is minimum of that model which from reading is a solid car, great engine and sensible money and LWB is key.

Not a fan of either really, much more of a saloon car chap really.

It won't take many miles lording it up in a Defender 110 to convert you to the dark side ;)

EDIT: Actually IIRC you had a Defender for a bit at one point?

Never owned one, but did borrow a new one and did have an old V8 decades back as company car (it nearly bankrupt me)

I have considered this, but fancy owning and replacing I think.
If you are owning and replacing can you stump up the capital to go totally outrageous? Bentley, RR, Porsche etc...

Like whats the depreciation on a urus or something really silly?
