The Indoor Riding/ Zwift/ TrainerRoad etc. Thread

That’s a shame. Really sucks when a premium product has issues and all you want to do is use it! Hope it gets sorted soon.
Yeah, it's a worry so many people are having problems. At least Wahoo have got back in touch and asked for a few photos and asked me to confirm my shipping address. I guess some new bars might be in the post soon at least. In the mean time, I can use ERG at least, so might try and get myself through some SYSTM workouts in the mean time. Tbh, once the TdZ is done, that's what I tend to do anyway. There was a time I wouldn't change gear for months on the indoor bike.
Though I went for a rather puny 42" 4K sceen. Kinda jealous of the big 55" one now!
I'm using my PC monitor at the moment, which although it's 49", it's wide and short. There is a TV bracket on the wall, I'm tempted to buy a cheap 42-50" TV for it...

Yeah I just bought a cheap Hisense 4K one. I don't think it was more than £250? maybe 270 at a push. Nothing fancy and has smart features but I just use my AppleTV so that I can have Sky in the shed.

I do think 40+ at 16:9 and you're golden. I used to use my 21:9 38" monitor but it was a bit uncomfortable as I couldn't get it high enough.

Jealous of you guy with the static bikes though. Would love one

you're making me feel inadequate playing on my phone :D
I've turboed on my mobiles for the past few years, didn't take long to adjust to screen size, but I do wonder if all the extra battery charging cycles because of how much Zwift drains Android mobiles is bad in the long run.

I keep thinking about getting an Apple 4k tv for ~£150, moving our old tellie to the turbo and buy a new smart tv for the lounge. But just like looking at bikes, desktop pcs and laptops, I'm indecisive and dither for eternity!

I’ve gone the opposite. Was running with a 55 tv but changed my setup when I got a smart bike and downgraded the screen to a 28” monitor I pilfered from work running zwift through apple tv. I prefer smaller, each to their own though :)

Have to say I never do the sort of thing on Zwift that requires me to pay much attention. I probably could cancel it and just use my garmin for what I use it for. I watch TV shows or films when I am zwifting.

All the talking in the Band of Brothers rewatch thread made me decide to watch it again whilst on the turbo.

It's going to be very helpful as I start TR back up.

The last Chris Hoy Doddie Aid ride on Sunday morning was Road to Sky, so up the Alpe as a group

Not sure on those group drafting dynamics uphill - my previous best time solo was 58:50 and I averaged 265w for that!

Yeah that has to be complete BS! :p

Not a popsicles chance you are saving 11 minutes over an hour whilst doing 45w less just because you are in a pack. That strikes me as something I would expect to see on a group ride vs solo on a flat course.

It looks like it was a rubber-banded event, where the pack stays together and goes at the speed of whoever is pulling at the front. I've bailed out of one of these up the Alpe before because someone with dodgy ZPower would have dragged us all up at some insane speed and messed up my Strava PR.
On a related subject, I knocked over 2 minutes off my best Alpe time this morning during the TdZ Stage 6 'A' ride. Fairly chuffed with that, though I've felt pretty wiped-out since :)

I've done a few A's in the TDZ this year as a mid to high level C rider. Really didn't fancy that one though! The B was hard enough up to the radio tower last night.

You will need to disable power on the sensor page so that Zwift doesn't control the trainer.
Yeah, I know that bit, thanks. In the past, I've done SYSTM workouts and had Zwift running simultaneously. But how do I control the ERG power through my phone?

I missed a few stages then just bailed out of the tour. I never wear the kits anyway and the next kit I want its the 100 mile one. Bored of my 100km one now.

I do need to get that new accelerate to elevate route ticked off. Just need to tick over to the next level and buy the S-Works Aethos to go along with my lightweight wheels so that I have zero excuses for being slow :p

9Km left until I get the Tron Bike. I want to get to about 1500m remaining to give me a reason to tackle Ven-top.

what trainer?
If it's a hub, you could get the click remote - creates virtual gears. You wouldn't ride in erg mode though.

what trainer?
I have the Kickr Bike V1.

One option I thought of already, it pick one of those 'flat' training plans in SYSTM (running Zwift alongside) and use the + and - to change it on the fly (as in you start at 100% but I believe you can change that while riding)
