New Fence Advice

We have pretty similar setup from Jacksons Fencing. Quality is excellent.

We had a ~20m run with just normal cheap panels and cheap posts, and wind tore it down (not recent storms). So we decided to do it properly. Used finished and treated railway sleepers for the base to keep the gravel back (we had to stack them about 3 high and use big bolts to fasten them). Notched them out so the posts could slide between, then we concrete in the heavy duty slotted posts (but also wrapped the bases going into the ground with joist tape) and then fitted the stronger fence panels between. We didn't use the double sided panels as the neighbour wasn't paying. So the fence is ours.

Turned out alright. :D

Any chance of a cost breakdown materials/labour?

We have a similar length run to do. Currently it's concrete posts and panels that are slowly dying. Sadly the posts were put in really badly (previous owner), not in a straight line at all so it both looks horrible and the panels don't fit nicely.

I don't suppose there's anyway to reposition/recycle the posts? Otherwise it's a fair bit of work just to remove them.

I hate to break it to you all but this is a 4 year old thread that was bumped by a business promoting their own website which RTM’d and was deleted.

Looks good Firegod. I have another 100 meters to do at my new home so am looking at something a bit more cost effective. Maybe estate fencing could work.

Sure yeah. Thankfully no labour as it was just me and my dad that did it. But cost wise...

x30 sleepers (might have been more). Can't find invoice now, but I think they were 2.4m lengths that we then cut down... From a local independant timber merchant so rough thumb in the air £400 - £600.

From Jackson Fencing specifically,

x11 6ft jackured panels £1,420.10
Jackcure preservative (bought it so we could treat anything we cut) £9.75
Panel width cutdown £10.50
x10 Heavy Duty 3m posts £529.00
x2 Heavy Duty 3m End Slotted posts £118.70
x12 Post Caps £28.80
x20 20KG quick set post mix £125.00
Delivery £110
+VAT £470.37
£2,822.22

a lot but still substantially cheaper than building the equivalent as a brick wall.

Thanks, I did wonder why it showed up on my app again. The fence is still standing though even after all the recent storms

Thanks for that, really appreciate it
