EDC Pen Thread

What reusable cartridges/ink wells are folk using? I need a pump action so I can lubricate some of my lesser used pens.

Here's the pen I use every day. Some sort of Cross fountain pen with Diamine Jet Black ink. My uncle collects fountain pens and gave me some money on my 18th (I think) to buy a pen with. 16 years later and it's still being used every day. I don't think I've ever tried a pen that writes more nicely than this one.

It's a bit battered - not sure the picture quite shows it - but I think that's honouring it really!

That's sick. I also have two Lamy Safaris that get used occasionally, but they tend to dry out due to lack of use to I end up reverting to the Cross every time.

Yeah pre-COVID I only used fountain pens and had them all on rotation. Post-COVID I don't use them enough so stick to Pilot G207's actually... I normally hook my pen on my shirt collar/top button, so it rules out the Cross's as they are too heavy. I do have a ball point Lamy as well, but it runs out of Gel astonishingly quick.

I've got a bunch of Safaris and I keep a couple of them inked. I found they dried out if I used cartridges but not with a converter.

If you've had pens dry out, I'd give them a good clean through and flush before filling them again.

Super thank you

Edit: do you think Diamine inks is worth it/twice the cost of Quink from Parker?
the 2-3 quid a bottle seems worth it to my OH, especally compared to some of the inks she owns.

You can also look into getting ink samples , which are relatively cheap but give you enough of an expensive ink to have a bit of fun with.

Thanks - by cheap, where do you get them from? Just regular stuff from Amazon?

purepens and cultpens are her current crack dealers

edit:

Purepens will do samples - Ebay and pens shows are also a good place to nab them
