EE Fiber

I had BT 900mb full fibre for several years but recently moved to EE for much less month cost. I can’t see any difference except for the reduced monthly payment. Would recommend changing over, haven’t tried their router but any decent router will be fine.

Sound. We basically switched from BT 900mb to EE. Cheaper, no loss of service and pretty much constantly getting 750mb plus download.

Mines getting installed in just over a week, 500Mbps/100Mbps for £40 per month, Major increase in speed compared to my current 16Mbps/1Mbps.

Wow that will be some massive improvement. Good luck with that, hope you get to download so much more.

I'll actually be able to download a game within 20 minutes rather than waiting 24 hours AND I'll actually be able to watch YouTube in quality higher than 720P for the first time :D

Question for my fellow EE customers... what is the EE hub/router with fiber like for options ? Can I see general network stats/usage on it ? Set bandwidth limits etc...?

in my experience I’ve found the EE SmartHub Plus (both the original and it’s replacement) to be a bit awful at actually staying connected - for the first time, I’m looking at third party routers

I know it does have the ability to see how much GB’s have been downloaded/uploaded but don’t see any options to adjust bandwidth.

Question for anyone who may have gotten the EE 500 fibre package, What speeds can I expect ? I know I won't get 500Mbps but what is a more realistic number ? 400 Mbps ?

It's full fibre, so unlike previous VDSL/ADSL broadband where it's limited by copper (or aluminium if you're unlucky), you're pretty much almost guaranteed the full speed. Ethernet should easily reach full speeds, WiFi may be limited depending on router placement/if your laptop/phone supports newer WiFi standards/etc.

EE uses Openreach's network so you should see similar speeds to BT and others who uses the same network too.

Well the engineer came and he couldn't do anything as he couldn't find the ducting and chatting with a mate of mine who also works for OpenReach it turns out the block of flats I live in doesn't have the wiring set up inside so it's been a colossal waste of time and a lot of proverbial crossed wires.

Going to be stuck with 12Mbps down for the next 6 months until I move... joy.

I got an email from EE earlier inviting me to call them to talk about moving my BT FTTP over to EE.

Why on earth you have to phone them I don't know, it seems bizarre that it can't all be done online. I assume there's upsell involved. Anyway, I called them and go through to someone that didn't have a clue what she was talking about then couldn't understand why I didn't want to move over to EE and pay an extra £5/month for the privilege.

Oof, that sucks.

I had trouble with the ducting being damaged, but they managed to fix it.
