In the weekend I began the long process of a full suspension strip down and rebuild with poly bushes. It took me 9 hours on Saturday to get the front right stripped down, but on Sunday I'd learned some lessons and it took me 4 hours to get the front left side stripped.

On the bench I tackled the first of what will be many OEM rubber bush removals.

Damn! I had visions of myself doing stuff like that when I first bought my MX5. Now I struggle to find the time to top up the screen wash

Braver man than I. My front arms squeak like nobodies business, going to get the car in the air at some point to lube up the polybushes.

Changed the engine mounts on my MK1 last weekend, using a jack to support the engine. What a sod it was.
Got her MOT'ed earlier this month though, which I feel super proud of giving I stuck her in a 2m deep ditch in Nov 2022. New wing, new (used) door and a few other dents and paint damage but we're good! Last night I drove from Stoke to Derby entirely on backroads, having a little bit of fun and enjoying the stutter of the turbo .

The girlfriend bought a cheap mk2 this week. Has clearly had some rot addressed in the past and is not perfect, but she runs well and was £1475.

I think the replacement will more than make up for it!

I was all set to sell my one (again) but an epic voyage... to do the weekly shop at Tesco was all that was needed to put that idea to bed for a few more weeks.

Honestly, while I keep thinking of tinkering with it the current setup of bone stock with added noise from a cat back exhaust is perfect for me. Even the roly poly suspension and open diff are positive attributes for road use in my eyes.

I get this

Took it out for a blast the night before I sold it, first time since getting the S2000. And it just drives so well. It's different but in a good way. A pleasure to drive.

Looks amazing and i've looked at V8Roadsters many times for my NC. Although if costs are anything like the NC conversions, then you're well into the "there's better cars for the money" category...

Getting it ready for it's MOT in two weeks and a ring trip in a month. Front pads were a little past it, done 6 trackdays so time to swap out the gearbox and diff oils. Couldn't do the diff today as I need a 23mm socket for the fill plug and none of my sets have one

The elusive 23mm socket arrived so I can do the diff oil change, took the car out for a good drive and the gearbox feels great and so do the brakes.

I have an annoying rattle from the rear that I just can't get to the bottom off, tried disconnecting the droplinks and wrapping the strut brace to see if it was that - also spent a while hitting things with a rubber hammer and pulling them and nothing. Only thing I can think of is top mounts but the coilovers aren't even year old. Will have to concede defeat and let the garage find it when I drop it off for it's MOT. They race NCs so hopefully they'll know better.

Found the rattle, the rear pads were worn and were slapping about against the caliper. I eventually noticed it didn't make the noise if I was applying the brakes... Found one of the 'new' slider boots had a hole in it and the pads were cheese shaped the last time they seized. Made my own stick on shims for the rear pads to stop it happening again. It managed to pass an MOT too.

@Janesy B glad you got to the bottom of the rattle.

On the NC I've found uneven wear when changing the rear pads, though not as extreme as in your case.

MOT today. Absolute disaster waking up to it chucking it down which means I'll need to properly wash it for the first time this year now.

Good news... Passed and the usual complement from the garage owner when I went to pick it up

Nice sunny drive on the way home to top it off.

The other night at the petrol station the right popup went on the fritz and did a good dozen 'winks' before finally settling down. Must have behaved itself today though!
