Awesome, thank you. The security requirement will mainly be to answer my wife's question of what is there to stop someone walking off with your charger. Well, that and an inquisitive toddler...It's this one. Plenty of room to shut and lock a big plug. It's only locked with a plastic fixing - but enough to deter a casual grifter. There's a ring camera directly above it too.

I didn’t edit it, the edit was me adding that text you responded to, not changing the what I’d previously written.
I don’t disagree with you and that I don’t see why you’d bother for an outside socket if you can spur off existing, even if the rules say you should. It’s not something I’ve done or would bother doing, it’s a general purpose socket at the end of the day.
However if I did need to put in a new circuit for whatever reason (e.g. I didn’t have anywhere suitable to spur off), I’d put in the commando instead. It’s both safer (you don’t see melted commando sockets with EV chargers attached) and you can get more power out of it.
Like you I have a dedicated charge point as I can’t live off a granny charger with my usage.

I live in a block of flats on first floor and run diy extension lead that’s about 40 meters lol and to that connect Tesla mobile charger.
The car is in our residential parking so I run the cable through the garden.
Not very convenient but with the savings from cheap electricity it’s worth it for me.
I know people will go off on how a bad idea it is and what not but I made the extension myself with thick 3 core cable and nothing heats up plus I unwind it and wind it back up with every charging session so if there’s anything off with it I will see that.
My neighbours don’t mind it and just laugh when they see me do it.

Dad's Honda has finally arrived at the dealership today. That has taken nearly 3 months! Should have it by next week, yey. Excited to see the Obsidian blue with the upgraded wheels.

My porch is covered and I ran a new 2.5t&E to it from the cu. Wasn't a major as my cu was being replaced at the time. Probably should have ran 6mm or something.
I'm then incentivised to plug the car in no matter what as the car locks the charger in place.
Previously ran it over pavement through a window and gaffa taped it to the floor.
Does 2024 model have same problem?
Nissan has an official part for the cover so they must know about it, is the part not fitted on new vehicles?

Same thing happens on Fiat 500s. They probably don't consider the car's service life to be long enough to matter.

It’s end of life, all new model due to launch next year.
Its changing to a compact SUV and moving over to the new platform Nissan and Renault use so will have CCS charging and a proper battery thermal management system.
The current model is the same as what they have been selling for years, still has Chademo charging and sub par drivetrain/battery for 2024, hence the price.
Edit: did you say £13.5k? It’s not the best car in the world but £13.5k for a brand new car, that’s a good price, even with the leafs shortcomings. They are very reliable by all accounts.

Don't know about the very latest versions. All the earlier Leafs had this.
If not, it's a very simple thing to add, and it's not had that long for the elements to get to it.
