*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Time I have plenty of but I’m just a lazy git. Hoping this will get my backside into shape although Christmas is going to be snap bang in the middle.

Jesus H. Got on the scales for the first time in a few months today and I'm back up to 104kg. Nearly fell of the scales in shock. That's almost back to my heaviest weight. Four years work all down the pan. What a bummer. I've been eating chocolate every day for the last two years as if it's going out of stock.

Starting 75 Hard is definitely the fresh start I need it seems.

Mines been creeping up too. Since i recovered from covid and lost a couple kilos my brain has switched back to shoveling anything and everything. Think this morning i was 103kg which was a bit shocking at how quickly it's jumped.

Been on the bike the last 4 days so hoping to build on that consistency. Might also start on some meal replacement drinks for lunch. That's probably my worst meal for overeating.

Just in the past couple of days I've seen A LOT about Mounjaro. Seems we finally have a 'wonder drug' for weight loss?
nothing special about it compared to other ones https://www.webmd.com/obesity/mounjaro-ozempic-wegovy-zepbound-difference
these are wonder drugs that are making these companies billions. They can afford some cents on promotion
and its an area of very fast research. Heard next gen drugs are coming that are much better both in effect an dlack of side effects

Went to Morocco for 3 weeks, lived on croissants, Shawarma, pizza, burgers, chips. With a bottle of pop costing 60p and food generally cheap I ate quite a lot.

Then about 12 days in I had a prawn and avocado salad (I think it’s this, the other thing I ate was a pizza) for dinner. About midnight I started to get what can be described as a relationship with the toilet for the next 6hrs.

Next day I had a 4hr train ride to Marrakesh and the only way of not have the **** was not give it any ammo so I didn’t eat until late afternoon.

For the next 2 weeks I basically did not eat until dinner time, every time I eat something, it would go straight through in about 3hrs.

Got back to the UK last week and went to the doctors, sent poop to a lab and confirmed I got food poisoning and now on antibiotics.

I also didn’t put on any weight either as a result.

I feel like I've been hitting the wall in the gym recently. I've been going about 4 times a week, usually after work so I don't get much time to eat anything before then.

What do people generally eat before a workout? Carb loading or caffeine?

Generally i don't eat anything specific, but it depends on general intake throughout the day i guess as to whether you're then underfueled at the gym.

Sounds like some kind of carb drink would likely be most beneficial though

If I eat anything specific before the gym then it's generally easy digesting carbs 60-90 minutes before, although at the minute the gym doesn't come too long after lunch so I'll just have a nutrigrain style bar on my drive from the office to keep me going.

87.3kg on Saturday morning. Back up to 88.2kg this morning. Definitely feeling fitter, overall shape is improving. Need to resist the temptation to switch back to weight training as a primary focus, as I think cycling is helping calorie deficit more effectively. Hoping that a few sensible choices over the weekend and business at work this will will create progress too.

Last push before every man and his dog gets on the New Year’s resolution bandwagon!!

Sensible choices over the weekend weren’t so successful, but probably still about -1000 calories for the week according to Apple health super rough estimates. Will be up due to salt load I’m sure.

Don't worry about it, we went out for a Chinese on Saturday and then homemade pizza yesterday. Although the chinese was for lunch and i was then too full for tea since it was 4 courses for €12!

Yesterday i had toast for breakfast and then by the time we'd been out and about and then i got back and went for a ride, we had pizza around 5ish so in theory yesterday at least should've been a deficit.

86.2kg this morning. Had an 86.something yesterday too. Cycling three times a week (in the gym) has been great, but I do wonder whether being forced to walk to work and back a couple of times this week has made the difference. I usually cycle it, so not sedentary in the morning, but walking is a much longer process.

Half a bottle of wine and a take out isn’t going to be hugely helpful, but it’s been a ridiculously busy two weeks.

Still decent restraint.

I’ve tried to set a goal of no booze at home again. I didn’t drink much but would have a bottle of wine (sometimes 2) at the weekend. Which then had an affect on my cycling.
If I was better at half a bottle each night it’d probably be fine.

Having crept back to between 101 and 102 over the last few weeks I just weighed myself after a 90km bike ride and weighed at 99.8kg

Not sure that should count :p
It all counts! 90k is a great distance on the bike! Not had the weather for that for a bit over here in recent weeks!

I’m slightly concerned that I’ve had a “Christmas has started” weekend. Going to reel it back in over the week and try to keep focused. Lots of socialising over the next six weeks which is great fun, but not in keeping with weight loss!
