Hi.
Not sure if i can post this here so please delete if i can't and sorry in advance.

I purchased a game (£49.99) from what I thought was a legit website (Has 4.5 on trust pilot) but i've just gone to redeem the key and it says it's already been redeemed.
I contacted the website and after 12 days they replied with "We do not sell used keys. Please check you haven't used the key already or a friend has used your key without your knowledge. Kind Regards"
Thankfully i used paypal. I have contacted them and im waiting for a reply.
What are the chances of them siding with me? I have zero evidence I haven't used the key etc

I don't wish to say the website here but it is apprently a legimate key selling website thats been around for years and has even sponsored gaming tournaments etc. thank you.

I'm guessing Kinguin.

Pretty much as dodgy as G2A in my experience, but hopefully PayPal will side with you - I had success with a refund from PayPal when I bought my first(and last) key from G2A which actually ended up being a steam account with the game. Just make sure you provide them with as much evidence as possible.

CD Keys is the actual seller of the keys.

Most of the other sites are just marketplaces providing a platform for third parties to sell keys.

Same. Ive purchased with this site once or twice before and it seemed okay until now. CD keys and fanatic are my normal go to.

UPDATE: Just got a reply from Paypal. Ive showed them the conversions etc and they've said I am not entitled to a refund (siding with the seller). Don't shop at G2A i guess.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Probably pushing the boat out but it might be worth contacting Steam (or whatever site the key is for) and asking if they can let you know the date when the key was activated, it will obviously be before you purchased it so that would be evidence you could use to get your money back. I don't know how successful this would be in terms of getting the information but at this point you have nothing to loose.

The likes of G2A and Kinguin should be avoided, they are black market sellers - potentially stolen keys. They also let third parties sell, who could be anybody.

Stick to CDkeys, they are grey market sellers who profit off of regional pricing and while questionable, it is legal. There are also no 3rd party sellers.

I have over 100 orders on CDkeys in the past decade and I've had one problem, where a Days Gone steam key was already used, I had a new code within 40 minutes once I proved it wasn't in my library. Thier customer service was excellent.

That's a really great idea thank you. I've contacted them now. Fingers crossed!!!

Yeah agreed about cdkeys. I also use fanatical and greenman gaming. I rarely use G2A but I do when the price is low enough and tbh I didn't realise they sold dodgy keys! I guess that's my fault and should do more research. I do stay away from the really dodgy guys (Kinguin etc).

I think unfortunately this is going to be a case of chalking one up to experience.

I personally would never buy an expensive key from kinguin or G2A. I use them sometimes for some very cheap keys (stuff under £5) but that is it.

Yep. I honestly thought it was a leginate website that ran checks. Obviously not lol. Im hoping steam can help prove when the key was used.
