From what I tend to see online and in person is that "Nvidia" is almost synonymous with "Graphics Card". People tend to only care about the next release of Nvidia cards rather than GPU's as a whole, similar to how Iphones are viewed in the mobile phone industry. AMD really have to do something shocking here to gain a signifcant amount of market share.

Im on a 2080ti so anything will be a solid upgrade for me. Just dropped in a 5700x3d to keep the am4 rig running longer.

So question is between 5080/5070ti or 9070 XT.

5080 just feels bad compared to the 5090 specs with only 16gb. With no 5070ti FE model and a Feb AIB release the AMD option is looking mighty tempting. I can’t believe there has been no major leaks!

Yup, that would look sketch (to us nerds anyway). And you know the AIB models will for damn sure be decently more expensive at launch.

What do you mean 5 wildly different bars? It clearly shows you at the bottom of the first slide that the colors represent 5 different cards. The pink and the orange are the 9070XT and 9070. In CP2077 without RT, the 9070XT is faster than the 7900XT by around 7fps and only 4fps slower than the 7900XTX.

The second slide shows games with RT enabled in which case the 9070XT is faster than the 7900XTX in the heavy RT games.

In which case the 9700 XT is 17% faster than the 7900 XTX in Cyberpunk 4K RT, that puts it slightly ahead of the 4070 Ti.

A big factor in these cards succeeding (at least initially) is going to be their availability. If the rumours are true that the 9070's could have launched in Q4 last year, there's a good chance that AMD could have taken the time to manufacture, stockpile and ensure plenty of units will be available to purchase on launch.

There was talk a little while ago amd and nvidia were rushing to stockpile gpu's before the tariff hike kicked in. With a bit of luck there's a decent amount of stock.

Problem is, AMD are probably basing stock levels on their tiny market share. They don't know if they'll be a success or not. If RDNA 4 is a success, they won't have enough. If it's a failure, they will have too many.

Nvidia can stockpile to the top knowing every card will sell.
