I flicked through T1. It looked good for sure. Not sure if it was excellent as it was just a quick skim.
Yep I seem to be out on my own most of the time with this. But seeing LV246 prior to the marines arriving really takes the edge off the atmosphere for me. It is much darker and more brooding not seeing it. I also think it's silly that Newts parents just happen to be the family that discover the ship.
I much prefer Ripley being a stand in mother rather than a real mother too. I prefer the motherhood dynamic between her and the queen this way.
The sentry guns part I can take or leave but Theatrical + Sentry gun would be fine.

That's my favourite bit! I love the tension that scene creates. The only bit in the Special Edition which I really don't like is when Ripley and Hicks exchange first names. It just seems so soppy.

You know what, I prefer the theatrical version too, mainly only because it is better only seeing the planet when the marines get there leaving you more in suspense.

T1 does look amazing in 4k. I can most certainly say that.
Picked up the steelbook before Christmas just haven’t got around to watching it yet!
