Which old games are still fun to play now?

Some random b*llocks I talked on the Eurogamer discord somehow sparked a major investigation into an early '90s urban myth about F-19 Stealth Fighter (and an entertaining article). Now I'm looking for ways to play its sequel, F-117, on a modern PC. I miss mid-market flight sims like that... not full sims, but not arcade games.

if its this:

It will just work on a modern PC if purchased from GoG

Wing Commander 3 and 4
Thier 2: The Metal Age (played through this recently)
Caesar 3
Age of Empires 2 (almost prefect gameplay, never feels old and still gets updates and new content)
GTA:Vice City
Knights Of The Old Republic
The Secret Of Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2 (the humour in these games is second to none)

Comanche vs Hokum. Perfect example of that, self contained dynamic campaign and so accessible. These days you're looking primarily at DCS to get you're helicopter fix, which is in a totally different league.

Old games keep popping up in VR. Recently Halo and Crysis have shown up, a complete new lease of life with them being so playable in VR. A favourite of mine Freespace 2 feels like a new game playing it in VR.
