BBC Gameshow - The Traitors

'The ultimatum' rule is a bit naff, but obviously the game has to go to the end with a traitor to be compelling.

Knowing that most of them get chucked under the bus the following day(s) anyway, I'm more surprised that someone hasn't kept their dignity and said **** it murder me now.

Charlotte's pretty vile isn't she. I did not like her.
Disagree, personally. I thought like Alexander she was one of the few players that kept in mind it was just a game and played as such, and respect to her for even trying to fight back after the Seer change completely stuffed her.

The Traitors format is good up until the end game, and the changes they made this year really spoilt it further for me. The Seer power is potluck and removes agency from the players, which I really don’t like. Removing reveals in the final couple of episodes just further encourages players to banish until there are only two remaining to maximise reward vs risk. There needs to be a disincentive to banish players scattergun. I wondered if they should penalise the group for voting out faithfuls in error by reducing the prize pot or something like that.

Also, Leanne’s anti intellectualism and main character energy (thanks Gen Z) is exhausting.

Charlotte crossed the line from playing the game / lying / acting etc to making it personal at the round table. Once she knew she was a gonna she seemed quite spiteful in trying to take Frankie out.

Not allowing players to reveal if they were a traitor/faithful after being banished at the end ruined the game. All it did was ensure the game went down to a final 2.

I came up with a better idea instantly. What they should have done was all headed back to their rooms at the end of the day where one of them had a letter inviting them to be the seer, so they head to a secret room where Claudia presents them with a selection of envelopes revealing the true identity of a player. This way gives 2 more surprises as 1) no player apart from the chosen one knows who the seer is, and 2) no player then knows whether their true identity has been revealed.

I think that’s a function of the Seer mechanic. Giving one player that level of knowledge then raises the bar for the other person to defend themselves and without any other evidence you’re almost forced to resort to ad hominems. That’s one of the reasons I really didn’t like it as it introduced a level of tension and unpleasantness that wasn’t fun to watch anymore.

Agreed. This was my first season watching after all my friends had been hyping it up, and the ending was so poor. What I got out of it was that humans are dumb dumbs

Traitors is like cryptography- there’a no information, it’s like each player or traitor is a black box where ideally no information leaks out.
So the only valid ways of objectively finding a traitor:
* accidentally leak due to instinctual behaviour such as reacting to talk by Claudia of Traitor. Or if people feel overly comfortable.
* logic that proves that that an individual has information/knowledge thus must be a traitor. Or everyone is given information except the traitor who then fails at an action.

Watched 1st episode of Traitors US last night.

Bunch of reality show "Celebrities", each with their own over-inflated egos. Now that's what i call irritating.

No thank you.

We're watching, not as good but more potential for drama. Not likeable people, the banishments are funny as rather than 'it's been fun, good luck to you all', they're more like "I hate you, burn in hell".

It's awful, they really don't like each other. I struggled through the first US series and then there was a reunion show where it was clear that they all absolutely detested each other and that had carried on after the show.

It's a very different programme to the one we have here. I think the UK version is generally accepted as being the best - Even some other countries have adopted our exact version of the logo with a cloaked Claudia.

Just watching the first US season 3.. the fact they all know each removes some of the learning. There appears to be more ego complaining..

Well i watched episode 2 just to see the first murder and banishment. Doubt i will watch any more, well maybe the final.

It is pretty much exactly the same as our show, same missions (up to now) and he even chucked a picture on the floor.
