Intel Nova Lake (16th gen) on next gen platform/socket (LGA-1954)

and Nova lake isn't here yet so who knows what that will be - a 32 core gaming platform? or a multi platform incl HEDT.

it is confirmed as desktop platform on there road map....
but that said the 32c would not be the gaming cpu just like the 9950x is not a gaming CPU.

but none of this as anthing to do with you saying Threadripper is a TRX40 CPU?

also i love that people like to forget that AMD tried to kill off the first get of AM4 boards

16P cores in two chiplets? Probably complete bulls.

If you still have e-cores, makes more sense to expand the number of e-cores for MT tasks.
 
But AMD has a unified core. I just don't see it with a hybrid architecture. e-cores should be way more efficient performance/area. I find it very hard to believe.

that what AMD said about HT until they used(SMT) it and went oooor yer its ok like ant it.
 
I’ll be watching the next release, or maybe the next couple with interest. My last two builds have been AMD. Prior to that, I’ve used Intel. All my office PCs/laptops/servers, and those devices, have been solid reliability-wise.

Whilst the performance has been great and still is on my AMD PC, with each release, there always seems to be an issue with the hardware (CPU or chipset) that needs fixing or a workaround that mars the launch. On X570, even after numerous firmware and driver updates, I still suffer intermittent drops on the USB ports, which annoys the hell out of me.

Not to say Intel is perfect. The last release (or several?) hasn’t been problem-free, but in general, their hardware has always been the more reliable for me long-term, and I can’t seem to shake that mindset. Perhaps that’s more down to age and experiences than the modern reality.

On twitter Jaykihn says there's also a 144MB SRAM cache in the works but unsure if it's for Consumer like DIY.

Intels design for the "X3D" is very different to AMD's, as it's tile-based and also works on a different principle where it effectively acts like an L4 cache.

They have stated its on the way but have not stated any time frame iirc, I could be wrong. I am sure it will be in the Nova Lake family though but may not be in S variant

Apparently the stacked Adamantine L4 Cache was canned for NVL & RZL:

So a 144MB+ SRAM cache on the tile itself exists for this reason. Probably won't be until Titan Lake in late 2028 probably we see it on Desktop (w/ Unified Core).
 
We just have to wait and see, but the rumours are fun to see what is potentially on the horizon or not

"LPE stands for Low Power Efficient, and it's a type of core in Intel processors that's designed to save power. LPE cores are used for background tasks that don't require the same level of performance as other cores"
